Most people experience more than one love in their life, and odds are your first love isn’t always your last.
On television, characters break up and make up so often, there’s really no telling who’s going to end up with who.

There are times when the first love interest a character has in a series, is also the person they find their way back to in the end.
We put together a slideshow of 19 characters whose first love was their enduring love!
Meredith Grey – Grey’s Anatomy
Meredith and Derek are seen together from the get-go. No matter what happened on the series, Meredith always loved Derek above all else. Had he not died, he and Meredith would have grown old together.
Lucas Scott – One Tree Hill
Lucas loved Peyton since the first day he saw her, and he even told her so in his vows. Although they were both dating different people in the pilot, it was clear that they were each other’s first and last loves.
Sabrina Spellman – Sabrina the Teenage Witch
Harvey was Sabrina’s first love as they were together during the very beginning of the series. She did end up dating some other characters, but Sabrina and Harvey found their way back to each other in the end.
Emily Fields – Pretty Little Liars
We’re going to ignore The Perfectionists for a minute and just focus on the original show. Going off of just Pretty Little Liars, Alison was the first person Emily loved and they did end up getting married at the show’s end. We’re just going to leave it at that because frankly, this relationship deserves better than what the spinoff tried to do to it.
Kurt Hummel – Glee
Kurt’s quest for romance was a big part of his storyline on Glee. When he finally found it with Blaine, he never wanted to let it go. But unfortunately, life does happen and things get in the way. We couldn’t be more thankful that they ended up married and with a baby on the way in the end.
Ted Mosby – How I Met Your Mother
Ted set his sights on Robin on the very first episode of the sitcom. Despite the whole series being about Ted telling his kids the story of how he met their mom, he ended up with Robin in the final episode.
Emily Thorne – Revenge
Jack and Emily (Amanda) were childhood best friends who were separated for some pretty complicated reasons. Their feelings for each other were obvious since Season 1, and they end up married at the end of the show.
Corry Matthews – Boy Meets World
Topanga is Cory’s childhood friend who he eventually falls for. They do have a bit of an off/on relationship, but they get married in the show’s final season.
Luke Danes – Gilmore Girls
Luke was always crushing on Lorelai. He even kept a memento from the first time they met and held onto it for years. Although they were just friends for a while, they ended up happily married.
Jim Halpert – The Office
There was never a time on The Office that Jim wasn’t head over heels in love with Pam. He bought a ring the first week they started dating, and even admitted to wanting to marry her pretty much the day he met her.
J.D. – Scrubs
Elliot is the first girl J.D. is romantically interested in on Scrubs. Their relationship is complicated and full of many twists and turns, but when all was said and done they ended up together.
Tate Langdon – American Horror Story
Violet was Tate’s only love that we know of, but it doesn’t change the fact that he vowed to wait forever for her forgiveness, which he eventually got. As of Season 8, the two are back together and will probably stay that way since the special episode served as an ending to their story.
Ross Geller – Friends
Not only was Rachel Ross’s first love interest on the show, but he was also his first love interest ever. He had a crush on Rachel ever since high school and despite a few breakups, they got back together in the series finale. But in all honesty, we wish Rachel would have stayed on the plane.
Marshall Eriksen – How I Met Your Mother
Marshall had never been with anyone other than Lily. Literally. His devotion to her makes him one of the best characters on television, and their relationship is one that most people strive for.
Klaus Mikaelson – The Orginals
We’re sure Klaus had his fair share of hookups over his centuries of life, but his love for Caroline was unique and she was the first person we saw him fall for on The Vampire Diaries. He may have accepted his tragic fate during the series finale of The Originals, but he loved Caroline up until the moment he died.
Serena Van Der Woodsen – Gossip Girl
You could argue that Nate was Serena’s first love, but in retrospect, Dan was the first person she had a relationship with on the series. Although they shouldn’t have ended up together for a number of reasons, they got married in the show’s final episode.
D.J. Fuller – Fuller House
Steve was D.J.’s first love back when she was a teenager on Full House. She may have married someone else and had other relationships, but she and Steve are officially back together as of the latest season. With the next season being the last, we wouldn’t be surprised if wedding bells are in their future.
Monty Green and Harper McIntyre – The 100
Neither Monty nor Harper were ever seen in a relationship with anyone else for the duration of The 100. While the rest of the characters were in cryo-sleep, they had a long and happy life together and even had a son.
Barry Allen – The Flash
As he said himself, Barry was in love with Iris since the day he realized what love was. He had a couple of insignificant relationships during the early seasons of the show, but he wound up marrying his best friend.
