Whether it be for good reasons or bad, family dinners are a crucial night for some, and it can make or break relationships, can’t it?
Those who don’t have a good relationship with their family dread the night and wait for the activities to be over, while some skip altogether.
And that can span from “my parents hate me” to “I hate my parents,” or even, in some cases, “my parent/child is an evil murderer and I don’t want them around for the holidays, okay?”
Don’t forget the other family members who are just so insanely problematic, and everything they say leaves someone’s mouth wide in shock. No one wants them around, either. (Looking at you, Ralph Dibny.)
Without further ado, here are the characters who are officially uninvited from spending time with their families.
Laurel Castillo – How to Get Away with Murder
Despite the fact that her father hired someone to kill her boyfriend (and possibly baby daddy), Laurel’s relationship with her father was never that good before. He always wanted her to be more than she wanted for herself, and it’s hard to live with the pressures of those expectations, much less spend time together and have them pushed on you even more.
Michelle Tanner – Fuller House
The Full House gang has reunited many times for the reunion show, Fuller House, with the exception of the Olsen twins/Ms. Michelle Tanner. But, by now, she’s officially uninvited. Too much work to get her to come to dinner, I don’t see why anyone would keep inviting her.
Spencer Hastings – Pretty Little Liars
Spencer Hastings is probably going to sit this holiday season out. After discovering she had a long-lost twin sister who was trying to kill her and take over her life, and that her biological mother is Jessica DiLaurentis’ twin, her family became even more complicated than it already was when she knew her father had a child with Jessica. Someone, please, get this family an abundance of therapy.
Miguel – This Is Us
Sorry, Miguel, there’s no room for you at the table this time… or any time. While we still may not know how exactly Miguel and Rebecca ended up together, the thought of her finding love with her late husband’s best friend is just too much.
Ralph Dibny – The Flash
No one wants Ralph Dibny’s problematic behavior ruining their dinner. Anyone who refers to women as their measurements instead of their name deserves to be kicked out and forced to spend that time alone. He’s not wanted around unless he’s going to change his behavior.
Kai Anderson – American Horror Story
This one is an easy one, right? Kai is just crazy. And no one wants his white supremicist behavior around in general, much less at dinner when he has an invitation to spread his chaotic nonsense. Divine ruler, more like loser.
Eleanor Shellstrop – The Good Place
Eleanor’s problematic behavior is what landed her in “the good place” in the first place, and as we have seen in flashbacks, she doesn’t have a very good relationship with her parents, either. Is there even a family dinner for her to go to? If it’s with her good place friends then she needs to learn something from Chidi’s ethics classes first.
Black Siren – Arrow
Being from a different Earth doesn’t disclude you from family events, right? She may not be their Laurel, but she still is Laurel Lance. Unfortunately, her killing sprees in Star City have landed her on the do-not-invite list, and it’s going to take a lot before Quentin and Sara accept her as part of their family, even as a new Laurel.
Mon-El of Daxam – Supergirl
Mon-El’s family life may be garbage, but he shouldn’t be invited to Kara’s family dinners, either. His misogynistic behavior hasn’t changed since he was the Prince of Daxam, and it’s not something that any family should be proud to have around them.
Amaya Jiwe – Legends of Tomorrow
Amaya’s situation, like Black Siren’s, is unique. Showing up at a family dinner in 2017 would be beyond awkward considering she’s supposed to be dead, and she was living in the 1940’s. The mini reunion between Amaya and Kuasa had enough awkward tension, there doesn’t need to be a big event with everyone else.
Lyor Boone – Designated Survivor
Lyor may be President Kirkman’s trusted political advisor, but he’s sure to be a terrible guest. His track record proves he’ll say whatever he needs to, and that’s not good no matter what political side you’re on.
Billy Hargrove – Stranger Things
Please, don’t invite Billy anywhere. His pattern of abusive behavior may be somewhat because of his life growing up, but that’s not any excuse. Plus, the way he behaves toward Lucas and attempts to get his stepsister away from him looks to be a racist issue, which is only the cherry on top. Just, please, keep Billy out of your lives.
Fallon Carrington – Dynasty
The families on Dynasty are bizarre, and whether you find them intriguing or not, Fallon’s relationship with her family is even more strained than her brother’s. She wants to be in charge, but she can’t be, so whether she decides to go or not, her family may not let her. What is Fallon to do?
Olivia Pope – Scandal
Olivia Pope is definitely a gladiator when it comes to other people, but her relationship with her family has been tense, to say the least. She’s definitely not going to be joining them for a family dinner, and who can blame her? They’re terrible people, but is she one to hold herself above them given what she has done?
Echo – The 100
While the Sky People are a family of their own, Echo accompanying them to space kind of sold her chance of ever being a part of that family, especially since she took Clarke’s place.
Maryse Lightwood – Shadowhunters
While she’s beginning to take steps toward being a better mother to Alec and Izzy, she has a lot of work to do, and I don’t see her being invited to a “family ” dinner (Clary, Jace, Izzy, Alec, and Magnus) any time soon. She has to get over her grudge against Downworlders first.
Max Jennifer – Ghosted
Sounds like Max has to put his family back together first, right? His wife is abducted by aliens, he doesn’t really have another family, and nobody believes he’s actually telling the truth about his wife. He deserves to have a nice dinner on his own and tell everyone to screw off.
Dory – Search Party
Despite the fact that the core four killed someone, Dory helped kill the man she cheated on Drew with, and the cheating alone is enough to get her uninvited. She has a lot to do to redeem herself to get that invitation any time soon.
Ivy Belfrey – Once Upon a Time
We thought her mother was bad, but even she doesn’t hold a candle to the curse-casting Ivy, who trapped all of her fairytale world in Hyperion Heights. She’s evil, dangerous, and nobody wants her around, especially for dinner, because she’ll just poison them all.
