The internet may have plenty of well-known boyfriends, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t just as many ladies that are getting the love and appreciation that they deserve. There is also the wonderful added bonus of the loyalty that comes with coining a character the internet’s TV girlfriend.
Not only have we supported them over the years, but we are also still in their corners, learning from them as much time as we spent hoping they got good storylines and well thought out development.
Obviously not every choice pertains to everyone, which is why we’ve collected both well known and underrated choices, all of which spread throughout currently airing shows or TV shows that are much more nostalgic now.
Which TV girlfriend do you think the internet needs to still be crushing on right now?
Lexa – The 100 This can’t be shocking to anyone, with Lexa’s fans becoming the literal definition for loyal. Lexa made a huge impact, with her presence still felt during The 100 Season 5, and yet it is possible that she made an even bigger one off screen. Lexa offered queer fans the chance to see themselves in a powerful human on their TV screens, a necessary shift in the way that the media approached representation as well.
Lara Jean Covey – To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before We were so lucky to have Lara Jean in our lives this year, so much so that it is likely that we would fight Peter Kavinsky for the chance to spend more time with her. It doesn’t have to come to that though, with news of a second installment of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before officially ordered by Netflix.
Prudence – Chilling Adventures of Sabrina The least shocking thing about Chilling Adventures of Sabrina Season 1 was the way that we all fell for Prudence. Tati Gabrielle is a gift to our favorite TV shows, and it seems like this is only the beginning for us.
Adena El-Amin – The Bold Type Adena became a fan favorite long before anyone realized exactly the impact that she would have both on fans and on her girlfriend Kat. But The Bold Type Season 2 took Adena on a weird road, so now everyone has come together to wait out her return to the show and to her own story.
(Unavailable) Clarke Griffin – The 100 Clarke Griffin is the fight that we all find within ourselves, except she is proof of the strength that keeps us all going. She also happens to be an imperfect character, like most characters end up being on The 100, and yet there is nothing we wouldn’t forgive her for because she has our entire heart. She has been through so much and has so much more headed her way, always making us want to protect her from everything the show throws at her.
Anissa Pierce – Black Lightning There is a lot more that we will get to see from Anissa, but she has already left a mark on The CW and in our hearts. She is an extraordinary superhero, who deserves way more love than she is receiving from the internet right about now.
Nicole Haught – Wynonna Earp All I will say is there is a reason Nicole’s last name is Haught. It really speaks for itself, right?
Alex Danvers – Supergirl Sorry, that haircut was still distracting all of us. Alex Danvers really grew throughout the four seasons of Supergirl that we got so far, and during all of that, we were all able to fall a little more in love with her every time. SHe is a gay icon and it is a privilege to get to go on this journey with her.
(Diyah Pera/The CW) Rosa Diaz – Brooklyn Nine-Nine Rosa Diaz is a scene-stealing hero and there is a reason the internet fell in love with her the way they did. Not only did she offer some amazing bi representation to many people, she is also just an all-around wonderful human and anyone who says they don’t love her is lying.
Cheryl Blossom – Riverdale No one saw Cheryl Blossom coming for our hearts as she did, but here we are ready to sacrifice everything for her. It would be great to see more of her (and Toni) on Riverdale, but the reason we want it so much is a true testament to the character in general.
Iris West – The Flash Iris West is the heart of The Flash, and we are just living in this world that lets us spend time with her during every episode. She is the girlfriend we wish we could find for ourselves, and she will be beloved long after the show is over.
Clary Fray – Shadowhunters Clary’s smile can light up a whole room, with no one fighting harder than the Shadowhunters to keep that on our TV screens. This female lead went through a lot on the show, which transcended any normal feelings we may have initially had into a memorable reminder of a very well written woman.
Ilana Wexler – Broad City Ilana is our meme queen and she is our yas icon. Broad City may be ending but our love for Ilana (and Abbi) never will. She is hilarious, fun, and she reminds us to never take ourselves too seriously.
(Comedy Central) Lucy Preston – Timeless One last chance to see Lucy is one last time for us to try to say goodbye. Timeless was a show that was a strange kind of underrated, and Lucy was a big part of that. It felt like everyone understood the value and yet it was never enough to keep them in our lives for long.
Pam Halpert – The Office Pam is an iconic treasure from the beginning of The Office to now, where we all miss her so much that we are awaiting that revival to bring her back into our lives again. In a way, she was all of us and investing so much time into her story really left a mark on the internet world.
Claire Fraser – Outlander At the same time as we saw Claire and Jamie fall in love, we were also falling for both of them too. Claire’s resilience is inspiring, serving as a consistent reminder that she deserves all the love in the world. Across the past and the future even …
Elena Alvarez – One Day at A Time No one can look at these rad dance moves and say Elena hasn’t stolen all our hearts the moment we met her.
Caroline Forbes – The Vampire Diaries Honestly so much of the love for Caroline comes from her not getting enough of it on The Vampire Diaries. She could never just catch a break, not even getting a real happily ever after where she was the first choice that got that other half she was looking for. But there is always the internet, and fandom will never stop loving Caroline just for existing.
Jessica Day – New Girl Owning how unique you are is a lesson that we all have to thank Jess for after all this time. She leaned into what made her stand out, and in exchange, we learned how to do the exact same thing in our real lives.
Buffy Summers – Buffy the Vampire Slayer Buffy honestly invented the term badass, and sometimes you just want a confident female lead to remind you that we have that exact same strength as her. There is also the fact that ladies kicking ass and taking names is the real way to our hearts.
Amanita – Sense8 We will miss so much about Sense8, with Amanita being one of the big factors. She was actual girlfriend goals on the show and that kind of appreciation for a character doesn’t just go away.
(Netflix) Felicity Smoak – Arrow Felicity Smoak may be married to Oliver, but she will always be the internet’s girlfriend first. Her presence on Arrow was half the reason we tuned in, and it only means that much more now.
Sara Lance – Legends of Tomorrow Sara is one of our favorite ladies because of the way she stands her ground and represents us at the same time. She is one of a few beloved bi babes, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Maze – Lucifer There is no Lucifer without Maze, so there is no chance we were going to forget to include her in this slideshow. She is everything we want to be, and we get to watch her be all that and more for at least one more season of Lucifer on Netflix.
Fallon Carrington – Dynasty Liz Gillies in that red dress may have become a meme, but only part of that was because of the meme itself. Fallon is our underrated treasure that is the internet’s girlfriend and beyond.
Veronica Mars – Veronica Mars With Veronica Mars finding a new and recent home on Hulu, it seems only fair to revisit our love for her. Every time that we drop back into her world, it reminds us of why we adored Veronica in the first place.
Daenerys Targaryen – Game of Thrones We have pledged our love for Daenerys long ago, and not even Game of Thrones ending will take away our love for her.
