There is so much television available it is quite simply impossible to cover it all. What we are doing is tossing your way some darn great suggestions that have yet to air.
No matter what kind of viewing you are into, there is bound to be something on the list below you’re going to want to watch. From documentaries to Christmas movies, there is something for everyone!
Major Crimes – TNT – 9/8c – Oct 31
The final season of this TNT staple will air against This Is Us and Bull, so there will be major competition. Still, expect big surprises before the squad says goodbye for the final time.
Stan Against Evil – IFC – 10/9c – 11/1
Stan Against Evil Season 2 will pick up right where Season 1 left off and the lives hanging in the balance will be addressed straight away. With no Ash v Evil Dead this fall, you’d best get caught up on the adventures of Stan and Evie because you’re going to meed the mixture of mayhem and mirth to get you through! Back to back episodes will air all season long.
SWAT – CBS – 10/9c – 11/2
FINALLY. The long-awaited Shemar Moore vehicle premieres on CBS to seal his fate as a superstahhhh. Seriously, this was one of the better reboots and pilots of the season with a lot of potential. Great cast, too. Don’t miss it!
Shameless – Showtime – 9/8c – 11/5
With this family back on Showtime, you know you’re in for misery and a whole lotta laughs. What more is there to say?
Christmas and More Christmas on Hallmark and Lifetime
Hallmark is the absolute leader on this, but I didn’t want to leave out Lifetime, either. They’re not the only nets pulling in Christmas duty, but when Hallmark starts airing their stable of films 24/7, you can laugh, cry, or cringe (I’m not going to judge, you Grinch, you) until your heart swells three sizes or shrinks to the size of a peanut. Good times, I’m telling you!
SMILF – Showtime – 10/9c – 11/5
Connie Britton joins creator and SMILF Frankie Shaw as the latter tries to have the life of a carefree, cool, 20-something while bearing the responsibilities of a single mother.
Damnation – USA – 10/9c – 11/7
Killian Scott and Logan Marshall-Green star in this epic saga of the 1930s American heartland, centering on the mythic conflict and bloody struggle between big money and the downtrodden, God and greed, charlatans and prophets. Unbeknownst to those around them, the two mysterious men at the middle of what could be a full-blown insurrection against the status quo share a secret past.
The Long Road Home – NatGeo – 9/8c – 11/7
Based on Martha Raddatz’s best-selling book, The Long Road Home relives a heroic fight for survival when the 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood was ambushed on April 4, 2004, in Sadr City, Baghdad — a day that came to be known as “Black Sunday.” Jason Ritter, Kate Bosworth, and EJ Bonilla star.
Teachers – TV Land – 10/9c – 11/7
The Katydids are back for another school year as Teachers Season 2B returns with all the laughter, tears, booze, schmooze, and romance you’d expect for the ladies of Fillmore Elementary. That’s right. Romance! For real. Things are looking up!
Elizabeth Smart: Autobiography – A&E – 9/8c – 11/12
It’s been 15 years since Smart was abducted as a child and returned home in one of the few happy endings to those types of cases, and in this A&E two-part special, she’ll detail it all in her own words. On November 18, Lifetime will lay it out in a movie starring Skeet Ulrich, but watching the autobiography is recommended prior. Isn’t real life always better explained?
Future Man – Hulu – 11/14
This Hulu comedy starring Josh Hutcherson and Eliza Coupe centers on a Janitor who unwittingly becomes the savior of the future by successfully completing a video game he loves. When the mysterious travelers from the future arrive to share the news and enlist him for their army, well, you can guess, but it won’t be nearly as fun as watching.
Longmire – Netflix – 11/17
The final season of this long-running modern western featuring Sheriff Longmire in Wyoming will drop its last batch of episodes on Netflix. Say goodbye!
Marvel’s The Punisher – Netflix – 11/17
Jon Bernthal stars as Netflix’s Punisher, the next in a long line of Marvel series, about a former marine hunting and punishing those responsible for the murder of his family who gets caught in a military conspiracy.
Cold Blooded: The Clutter Family Murders – Sundance – 9/8c – 11/18
Acclaimed filmmaker Joe Berlinger takes a stab at the Clutter family murders that inspired Truman Capote to write In Cold Blood and forever changed generations who once felt safe in their homes and neighborhoods to lock doors and live in fear of the night. Well researched and documented, it’s a must for anyone with interested in this nearly 60-year-old case.
Search Party – TBS – 10/9c – 11/19
While Season 1 involved searching for a missing friend, Search Party Season 2 will tackle the troubles involved while burying the body. Oooh, fun! Get in on this TBS show while it’s hot!
Chicago Med – NBC – 10/9c – 11/21
Your Chicago universe will once again be complete when the hospital opens again for business. Feel free to have major disasters across #OneChicago.
Marvel’s Runaways – Hulu – 11/21
What if the very evil you were fighting were your parents? Every kid thinks their parents are evil, but that’s the case with the Runaways so they’ll unite against their common enemy on this Hulu series.
Godless – Netflix – 11/22
Frank Griffin, an outlaw terrorizing the 1880s American West, hunts down Roy Goode, his partner turned enemy. Roy hides out at a ranch as Frank’s chase leads him to La Belle, New Mexico – a town mysteriously made up entirely of women.
She’s Gotta Have It – Netflix – 11/23 (Thanksgiving, USA)
Twenty-something artist Nola is not who you want her to be. Nola is now—she is outspoken, complicated, progressive, unapologetic, passionate, sexual. Nola is the modern black woman. Diving her time amongst her friends, her job and her three lovers, Nola’s story is set entirely in Fort Greene, the vibrant Brooklyn enclave that’s home to a thriving artists’ colony but also evolving and changing in the modern era as gentrification remakes the neighborhood, which functions as a key supporting character unto itself.
The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel – Amazon – 11/29
From Amy Sherman-Palladino, in 1958 New York, Midge Maisel’s life is on track- husband, kids, and elegant Yom Kippur dinners in their Upper West Side apartment. But when her life takes a surprise turn, she has to quickly decide what else she’s good at – and going from housewife to stand-up comic is a wild choice to everyone but her.
Vikings – History – 9/8c – 11/29
Vikings Season 5 the first full season without Travis Fimmel’s Ragnar. It was almost the last for this beloved History Channel series until the network realized how silly it would be to let this stunning action/adventure saga go. Don’t miss the next step in what is now Lagaertha’s story of being a powerful warrior in her own right.
Dark – Netflix – 12/1
Netflix is betting on this German genre series to be a hit despite the language barrier and with its comparison to Stranger Things and themes of time, family, grief, guilt, and the metaphysical, we’re betting on it, too.
Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD – ABC – 12/1
This TV Fanatic favorite will make its return to ABC late in the season, but better than never! After an absolutely stellar Season 4, it looks like Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 5 will be going skyward, as in into space. Friday nights have never looked so enticing.
Happy! – Syfy – 10/9c – 12/6
Sure, we may wish Christopher Meloni would return to Law & Order: SVU, but who doesn’t want to see him as an intoxicated, corrupt ex-cop turned hitman adrift in a world of casual murder, soulless sex and betrayal? ESPECIALLY when his life is changed forever after a hit gone wrong when he meets a tiny, relentlessly positive, imaginary blue-winged horse named Happy (played by Patton Oswalt)? Answer? NOBODY, That’s who. Bring on Happy!!
Psych: The Movie – USA – 8/7c – 12/7
Speaking of happy, remember the days when USA Network shows were nothing but sheer happiness? Well, start making pina coladas because the Psych gang is back to put a smile on your face with a movie. Bless.

Wormwood – Netflix – 12/15
From Errol Morris comes the documentary Wormood, a documentary/scripted hybrid series exploring the limits of knowledge about the past and the lengths we’ll go in our search for the truth. It’s a twisting, evolving story of Eric Olsen’s 60-year quest to identify the circumstances of his father’s mysterious death that he believes to be at the hands of the CIA in conjunction with their mind control experiments.
