NCIS Season 21 Episode 2 Recap: The Stories We Leave Behind

Jimmy stops by to visit Ducky. But he can't wake him. He's dead.

Vance suggests they keep Ducky alive by telling old stories about him.

Jessica said Ducky had called Jimmy to talk about an old case. But Jimmy had never found out which one.

A woman, Serena, storms into Ducky's office furious that she hadn't been called back, thinking Jimmy is Ducky.

Ducky had promised to clear her name of her father, Daniel Zawadski.

Allan Berger has smeared her father's name during his campaign.

Ducky said there was no drugs in Zawadski's system. Kasie found the autopsy report, which was heavily redacted.

Jimmy and Jessica locate Ducky's journals, which the team sorts through.

Parker and Vance question Berger, who isn't telling all that he knows but agrees to lay off Zawadski.

Parker says they need to find Zawadski's best friend.

Serena received a voicemail from a former Marine defending her father.

McGee and Torres track down Jonesy, the mysterious Marine, at a homeless encampment.

He denied that Zawadski went UA or had a drug problem.

Jonesy tells Palmer and Jessica that Berger was taking money from a heroin dealer in Kabul and Zawadski disappeared while investigating.

Jessica attempts to talk Jonesy into testifying against Berger.

The team rifles through Ducky's records in hopes of finding a smoking gun.

McGee locates Ducky's hidden files behind a team photo. He finds Ducky's full autopsy report.

Between the report and Jones' testimony, Berger drops out of the senatorial race.

Right before the funeral, the team leaves Jimmy alone in autopsy. DiNozzo shows up.

He tells a story in Ducky's unimitable style.

Palmer turns off the lights in autopsy as he leaves.
