Only Murders In the Building Season 3 Episode 6 Recap: Ghost Light

Howard narrates.

He tells the story of Gideon Gooseberry, who was killed by a sandbag in 1993 while performing. Legend has it that to escape Gideon's ghost, one must sweep the stage on opening night to prevent a tragedy.

Howard visits Mabel and confesses to having killed Ben.

Charles, Oliver, and Mabel listen to his explanation where he says that because he didn't sweep on opening night, Ben died.

He says that he heard a noise recently when he went to sweep the theatre and saw Gideon's ghost.

Tobert leaves the shower and joins the trio as they discuss what to do about Howard's story. Mabel and Tobert develop a theory, leaving Charles and Oliver feel left out.

Charles reveals that Joy left him and claims he was okay.

Oliver tries to hide everything he knows about Loretta and that she might be the killer.

At the theatre, Charles has President McKinley tag along. Two sandbags fall from the ceiling, nearly killing Charles.

They talk to the stage manager, and Katy agrees to check it out with Howard's help.

Mabel finds a form with the cast handwriting, but Oliver is against comparing the phrase on Ben's mirror for a suspect.

Oliver compares the handwriting by himself.

Charles locks himself in a washroom by accident.

Oliver finds someone squatting in the theatre's attic, and it turns out to be Jerry, the former director whom Donna fired.

Charles nearly asphyxiates himself to death when he accidentally turns on a smoke machine in the washroom.

Jerry reveals that he'd been squatting in the space for a year because he fell out with his partner over money issues.

Katy and Howard try to find the problem with the stage and the falling sandbags. They talk about Gideon, and Katy proposes to appease him and prevent more misfortunes.

Oliver learns that Jerry was the one who pretended to be the ghost to drive them away from the theatre.

Oliver opens up about his troubles with Loretta. Gideon reveals that he saw the altercation between Loretta, Ben, and Charles.

Tobert follows Jonathan into the theatre. He and Mabel question Jonathan, who reveals he was seeing Ben's doctor to get drugs to deal with the anxiety associated with leading a show.

Katy pushes Howard, and he delivers an outstanding performance.

Charles lets himself out of the washroom and finds Mabel and Oliver.

Oliver decides to stop the investigation by erasing the text on the mirror. The three argue, and each chooses to pursue different things.

Oliver wants to do his play.

Charles wants to do more Brazos stuff.

Mabel wants to do a podcast with Cinda Canning.
