Deacon: Being a grown up means sometimes having to do things you don't want to do.
Maddie: Then I don't want to be a grown up.
Deacon: Yeah, me either.

Maddie: Eighth graders are just like seventh graders except they're a little older.
Daphne: That's what I'm afraid of.

Daphne: Who was that?
Maddie: Just another woman interested in dad.
Daphne: Please tell me you're not interested in her.
Deacon: You two are the only girls in my life.

Juliette: Do you feel like you did something wrong?
Maddie: No, I don't. That's the thing.. it just looks like I did.
Juliette: If you feel alright about it then great. Own it. Stand up and take whatever comes. I know you've heard the expression there's no such thing as bad publicity, right? Well in this day and age, it's the truth.I'm not saying it's right, but at least you've gotten everyone's attention.

Juliette: How're you holding up?
Maddie: I'm not. I just look like I am.

Deacon: I don't know who I am without her [Rayna].
Maddie: You're my dad.

Maddie: I was thinking about what you were saying about how your mom was in and out of your life. My mom was the complete opposite.
Clay: You're lucky.
Maddie: Yeah, and I have done nothing but give her a hard time. I've done terrible things. Lied; run away; I even took her to court last year. But it's like, no matter what I did, she was always there for me and I think the reason I was able to do all this is because I knew deep down that we would never be separated.

Rayna: My house, my rules.
Maddie: My life.

Maddie: Well the thing about boys is they are completely clueless.
Daphne: What do you mean?
Maddie: It’s like half the time, they aren’t even awake.

I just realized people are like worlds, like whole worlds inside. So big, ya know? Everyone’s walking around like with their own history and feelings and different ways of seeing things and it just boggles my mind.

Maddie: How do you know when something’s right?
Deacon: Aren’t you a little bit young to be thinking about that? You should just be out there meeting people, seeing what you like, seeing what you don’t. Slow down, it’ll get complicated soon enough.
Maddie: Mom met you when she was my age.
Deacon: I was afraid you were gonna say that.

Maddie: Why do people have to be so complicated?
Rayna: Because they’re people.

Nashville Quotes

Why can't they just give out the damn award already? Why do they have to throw so many parties?

Juliette

What you're bailing on the party? Great that's one less person's feelings I have to tiptoe around all night.
