When Billy goes to investigate a victim of a hit and run, who has $1500 and marijuana on him, he is unable to identify the victim. Max runs his prints and finds out his name is Miguel Santos and he was arrested for vandalism when he was younger and hasn't been at school for six months. Billy brings Miguel's father in and tells him about the drugs and money, but Miguel's father defends his son and says his son would never do something like that. As they investigate him more they find out he was secretly going to a prestigious high school on a full hockey scholarship. Unfortunately the school is not willing to give up information on Miguel so Laura and Jake go undercover to investigate the school at a gala they are throwing. There they find out Miguel had been accused of sexual harassment, but when they interview the girl about it she says he was cleared of the harassment and she never thought he would do something that mean anyways. Billy looks further into the case and it leads him to a boy named Spencer who had originally bought the phone and was framing Miguel so he would be taken out of the hockey game where college scouts would be, but he had nothing to do with his murder. This leads them to Spencer's girlfriend who talks herself into a corner and it is revealed she was the one who killed Miguel because she wanted her boyfriend Spencer to go to the same school as her and she was the one who planted the drugs and money on his body.
