Kate: I remember.
Toby: I wanted to say, I see it now. I'm sorry that it took me so long. If only I had a crystal ball to see where this was going to end up.
Kate: Yeah. Life would be so much easier if we could live it backwards.
Beth: You are a beautiful bride and this is going to be a perfect day.
Kate: No, it isn't. A million things are going to go wrong, but it's okay.
Beth: Kate Pearson. You're the most Zen bride I've ever seen. Have you been hitting the CBD pen I've got in my drawer?
I am really tired of this. It's the same fight every day, just a different version of it. It's like we're caught in a hellish version of Groundhog Day.

Kate: How do I know when it's time to end the marriage?
Kevin: I think you'll know. If the time comes, you'll know. IF the time comes. You and the kids will be fine. Look how I managed to work things out with Madison. I'm not saying that's you and Toby, but if it is, you will work it out. You will be happy again.
Kevin: So how's work?
Kate: It's great. Last week was 90s week so the kids all sang Backstreet Boys. My dream job really.
Toby: Now if only it paid something, we'd really come out on top.
Kate: Toby!
Toby: That was a jab at the school, not at you.
Philip: I just think it's a little weird. You have the whole kindergarten class singing ManEater.
Kate: Oh, they love it.
Philip: You've got my full support. Whatever filth you want them to sing, I'll be behind you all the way.
Kate: Do you want any dess - [Kate cuts herself off as she sees Philip down on one knee.]
Philip: I'd accompany you anywhere, actually. I've know it since our first date. You remember that Mariachi band that arrived at our table and you took my hand? And the rest is history. God. I love you, okay? I love your germy, loud, unrefined children. My time with you has just been the happiest time of my life. So, what do you say we make it official? Will you marry me?
Toby: I am a good dad, okay? But you criticizing every little thing sucks all the joy out of me being a father.
Kate: Really, Toby? Because it seems to me you're miserable.
Toby: If I'm miserable, it's only because you're in the room!
Kate: Wow. So there it is.
Toby: Yeah. There is. After all this time we spent going to Diane to figure out how we ended up here, the truth is, it's not because I lost weight or I didn't bond with Jack or because I moved to San Francisco or any of the other BS we talk about in there. The only crime that I consistently find myself guilty of is not being Jack Pearson! I'm sorry that I like wearing a suit and tie to work and Jack Pearson hated it! I'm sorry that I don't parent my children like Jack Pearson did! I'm sorry that Jack Pearson died and you were stuck having to marry me instead of him!
[Jack calls from off-screen]: Mommy Daddy! I need help.
[Kate and Toby go into the bathroom.]
Kate: What's wrong?
Jack: My toy fell into the toilet. Now you have to stop yelling so you can get him out.
Toby: I promised myself that I wouldn't turn into my parents. That I would never make my kids hear crap like that.
Kate: It's over, Toby. It's time.
Toby: I'll just cut to the chase. You and Kate are getting serious, which means that you're going to be spending a lot of time around our kids. So I thought I'd lay out what my expectations are for your behavior around them.
Philip: I think we should talk this through as well.
Toby: No matter what, you can't yell. Not in front of them and not at them, either. I know that sounds rich, coming from what you must have heard about me as a dad.
I thought that if we worked hard we could fix what was broken, but instead we ended up divorced and Kate found her way to you.
Toby: You know, Kate, we don't have to do this. I'm making progress with the kids, I can see it.
Kate: I see it too. And the kids are happier too.
Toby: I think we should see Diane again. I wasn't receptive at first but now -
Kate: No, Toby. I think that we're doing better because you have your own space, so you can be with the kids the way you want to be with them, without me.
