During a government presentation, Oliver Peters (Leland Goines' Rolling Stone), discusses Operation TROY. CIA whistleblower Adam Wexler must be taken down and he's got just the virus for the job. A virus that would kill every one in that very room in a couple of hours. Cole and Cassie follow their only real lead - the photo of a plate with a monkey - to Dr. Edward Garrett at a benefit event. Garret informs Cassie that the artifact belongs to a religious group known as "The Druze." Where do these guys call home? That's right; Chechnya. Cole begins to splinter but tells Cassie and Aaron to gather intel on Operation TROY, he'll be back. At the Senator's office, Aaron swipes a jump drive with proof of the CIA's plans. However, Cassie gets a surprise call from Cole saying that Operation TROY is already happening! He explains to her what to tell his future self in order to destroy the virus. Our time traveling hero arrived in Chechnya a few hours ago and tracked down the briefcase containing the virus. When a member of the Army of the 12 Monkeys kills the guy with the case, Cole runs off with the briefcase. It's not long before he's captured by the Army and comes face to face with Adam Wexler. Not believing Cole about the contents of the briefcase, Wexler opens it and releases the virus. While all this is going down, Cassie and Aaron work to convince the CIA that Operation TROY is compromised. They've lost contact with their agent, so they begin to believe Cassie's story. In Chechnya, everyone in the compound is getting sicker by the minute and Cole pleads with Wexler to do the right thing and die there, rather that spread the plague. Wexler comes to his senses and shoots his own men, while Cole contacts Cassie via satphone warning her to burn the place to the ground. Before dying, Wexler and Cole discuss the Army of the 12 Monkeys and an incident in Tokyo back in 1987 at the "White Dragon." With the airstrike pending, Cole asks Cassie not to tell his future self that he's going to die. The two talk of their time together and he shares with her that the Florida Keys is the place he's always wanted to visit. Then everything goes BOOM! A week later, Cole arrives at Cassie's place to collect the information he ask for on Operation TROY. Cassie struggles with her choice, but ultimately respects his wishes and keeps his fate to herself.
