The Gardner family arrives in town.

Martha, the manager of the house, tells them not to make any changes.

Doris says that she won a contest to have the house for three months and renovate it.

Martha looks unsure.

As Harry gets his office space set up, Doris and Alma go a walk.

They are pursued by a bald, pale, freak.

They get back to the house and it tries to come through the door.

They manage to keep it out.

That night, Alma looks out the window and screams because there are more than one outside.

When the parents look, there is nothing there.

Martha offers to look after Alma to allow the parents to go out on a date.

Doris declines at the last-minute because she feels sick, but tells her husband to go blow off steam.

He is bought a drink by two famous writers, Austin and Belle, who say they understand what's going on with him.

When he returns home, one of the men is inside and he kills it.

The next day, the Gardners are preparing to leave, but Austin tells him to go to his house. He gives him a drug to help struggling writers.

He reluctantly takes it after a call with Ursula about potentially losing his job.

The writers block disappears and he exits the car and returns to the house to write.
