Tribeca and Geils face a new foe when they investigate the illegal smuggling of pet ferrets into the State of California: the Fish and Game Division.

After recovering their first victim, Ferret Fawcett, an ultrasound reveals many things: that the ferret is pregnant and that the ferret eats literally anything, including the cufflinks of an "animal activist" and their new prime suspect. 

Convinced he is the smuggler, Tribeca and Geils build their case, doing everything except accusing the man. The investigation leads them to a charity event thrown by their suspect: a poker tournament with a $50,000 buy-in. The goal of the event: to raise exactly as much money as the man would've made from selling the pet ferret and her ferret children. 

Meanwhile, Tribeca faces off against Laurie Partridge, her old roommate from the Police Academy, and current obstacle from the Fish and Game Division. Partridge's sole mission is to ruin Tribeca, an old grudge clouding her judgment. Reunited at the tournament, Tribeca and Partridge are faced with an interesting challenge. Geils and Tribeca must ask for help when he loses all of their buy-in money from the department's swear jar. Alone neither can take down the suspect, but together? It's a snoozefest.
