Hamish and Yvon bring the priest and the girl they found into Wobik. Hamish refuses to hand them over to Bouchard. Gus takes note of the new arrivals. Mathilde takes over care of the girl while the priest is exiled to the stable. Sel can't locate Duquet. He spies on Trepagny and Mari at the manor house but she spots him. Duquet gets a fire going then the rains come. Trepagny tells Sel that the ram must be cursed. Sel lets Mari know that Trepagny has passed out in his cabin. Mari blackmails Sel into reading a letter that Trepagny had sent but he lies about its contents. Cooke is upset with Gus about there being survivors of the massacre. Mother Supreme takes her charges to visit Claudette, a former Filles du Roi. Local Indians tease the squalid Duquet. Mathilde names the girl Renardette, based on the fox-shaped birthneck on her neck. Duquet follows the Indians to their village and they take him in. Melissande slips Claudette a plant that induces miscarriage. Mari takes Sel to her special spot, a lake where they go skinnydipping. But he gets scared and flees. Gus demands that Mathilde bring the girl to him. Trapagny receives official permission to marry one of the Filles du Roi. Mathilde tells Hamish of Gus's interest in Renardette. Trepagny reports Duquet's escape to Bouchard. Gus confronts Henry about the survivors. When Henry blows him off and goes back into his tent, Gus sets it on fire. Gus sends his son Tom to abduct Bernadette and tells him not to let anyone stop him. Gus slices Francis's throat but Yvon knocks him out before he kills the priest. Tom stabs Mathilde and takes Renardette but Trepagny incapacitates Tom with his walking stick and she runs off.
