Willow and Xander play a guessing game at night to kill time. They flirt and nearly kiss before a vampire attacks them. Buffy emerges and stakes the vampire.

The Master's bones were consecrated and buried in the graveyard.

Buffy's father Hank tells Joyce that Buffy acted strange all summer. She was emotionally distant.

Giles sneaks away from Snyder to catchup with Jenny. He reconnects with the remaining Scoobies and thinks it's time to begin training with Buffy again. Her session gets a tad out of hand.

A group of vampire acolytes have emerged to follow the Anointed One.

Buffy has a nightmare where Giles (revealed as The Master) tries to kill her. Angel appears by Buffy's bedside and checks in on her.

Cordelia tells Buffy, Willow and Xander that she will keep their secret about the vampire slaying. She notices Buffy acting strangely.

The vampires dig up The Master's bones.

The group heads to The Bronze to see Cibo Matta perform and Buffy continues her cold rampage. She dismisses Angel, she toys with Xander's feelings, rubs it in Willow's face, and she tells Cordelia off.

Cordelia is kidnapped by the same vampire followers. She discovers Jenny passed out in the basement.

The Scoobies worry about Buffy and her strange behaviour. Buffy worries about The Master's bones being gone. A ritual is discovered that involves the blood of those closest to the dead.

A rock breaks through glass and tells her to go to The Bronze to save Cordelia's life. Angel warns her that it could be dangerous, but she dismisses him. The woman in the club is a vampire. It's a trap; the real targets are back at the library.

The vampire in the club reveals the location of the others. Buffy, Xander and Angel break up the ritual and stop it from happening in time.

Buffy breaks the bones of The Master with a sledgehammer.

Giles, Willow and Xander forgive Buffy for her strange attitude.
