Will finds Matt chatting with the coffee shop clerk again. Matt has a fancy watch. Will makes up a story about how he lost a lot of money at poker last night and he has so much debt right now. He asks Matt for advice. Matt realizes he's desperate and says let me think about it and hurries away.

Stevie goes to meet her mom at a coffee shop. The waitress sees the mom is homeless and is about to kick her out. Stevie stands up to the waitress and gives her mom her meds. Her mom won't take them unless Stevie gives her $1200 for her van. Mom insists she doesn't need a roof over her head and goes to run away. The waitress comes back but the mom leaves.

Scott is playing basketball with Atwater and another Black cop when shots are fired across the street. The female cop won't let Scott come in as he isn't armed. He watches from the doorway as a kid comes running out with his hands up. The cops find a kid on a bed with a gunshot wound. Scott comes in to try to help him. Ambulance is 15 minutes away -- can Scott keep him alive til then?

The kid has been taken to Med where he is screaming for his mother. Scott says he needs an operation but he'll be okay. He'll be asleep and the surgeon will fix him up and maybe add some superpowers. Scott says goodbye to the female cop and then goes.

Archer has a new system for logging how long the doctors are spending with each patient and there is an executive suite as an incentive for whoever has the best turnover rate. Dr. Charles is not a fan.

Meanwhile, a donor to the hospital has had a fall. Sharon wants Maggie and Stevie to take special care of the woman. Stevie is not happy. She doesn't like dealing with the rich and famous.

The Fosters arrive and Maggie takes them to Treatment 6.  Elaine says she tripped when she felt something burning and rushed to the kitchen. Her husband was heating pizza and didn't smell it burning. She thinks that means he had COVID. He says he didn't and it's not his fault she's a klutz. Jim complains about wanting a snack. Elaine sends him to the cafeteria. Elaine says Jim has been out of sorts lately. Stevie and Maggie talks privately about how odd this was. Stevie thinks he probably is on better behavior at donor events.

A pedestrian hit by a car comes in and Will gets her. The woman says she looked both ways before she crossed the street. Will and Scott work together on this patient. A volunteer tells the woman that her lupus website has helped her so much. She leaves and Scott asks what lupus meds Candace is on. Candance is on no meds. She says she's been in remission for five years, contrary to what she said on her website.

Vanessa has a ten year plan that she wants feedback on. Marcel is shocked by this idea. Vanessa has a binder with a presentation. She says she spent her early years looking backwards because she was adopted  but once she accepted she wouldn't get answers she decided to focus on the future. Marcel rides the wave to see where life takes him. He thinks planning leads to too many expectations. Marcel gets called to see a patient.

The patient is a woman covered with a scarf who was brought in my her friend. Gina doesn't want to take off her scarf. Marcel says they've seen it all, nothing to be embarrassed about. The woman has a big lump in her neck.

Will and Sharon talk about Cooper. Sharon has found some suspicious things. Vas Com has shell companies. Charles shows up and Will leaves. Charles asks if they have evidence yet. Sharon says not yet. She has to look as Vas Com's books. Charles is worried about her stress level. She insists she's taking care of herself. She has a continuous glucose monitor. Charles is glad to hear that.

Candace's labs look good but her website makes it sound like she has a serious flare-up and is asking for donations. Will doesn't know what's going on. Scott says anyway he's going to check on some more tests for Candace.

Elaine is taken by wheelchair to X-ray. Jim is not interested in going with her and says he hopes this will be quick so he can take chicken out oof the freezer for tonight's dinner.

The tumor is benign but it is blocking the heart so it has to be removed. Gina asks about medicine instead. Marcel says the tumor is too close to her blood vessels. Gina insists on medicine instead. Marcel suggests she think it over and he and Vanessa go. Vanessa tells Marcel that iodine won't work. Marcel agrees and says they have to tread lightly. He's gonna have Charles talk to Gina.

Candace tells the doctors she hasn't advertised her remission because she doesn't want to disappoint the people she has been inspiring. She suddenly has a headache and Scott says they will get a head CT.

Stevie tells Jim that Elaine's ankle is just sprained. He asks if she's a runner. He asks her how old she is and says runners don't have extra padding in their middle. She tries to leave. He grabs her arm. She pulls away and he falls, just as Elaine comes back.

Peter questions Stevie and is accusatory. Sharon says she is so sorry. She never would have put Stevie in this position if she knew Jim was a predator. If she wants to press charges - Peter says that's not necessary. Sharon says we are not sweeping this under the rug. Stevie doesn't want to press charges. Sharon insists on talking to Jim herself. (This would be a great setup for a SVU crossover except for them being in different cities.)

Scott asks for another update on the kid with the gunshot wound and is told to stop asking, he will be informed if there is something he needs to know.

Will wants to investigate Candace. Scott is not a cop anymore and wants Will to drop it.

Gina thinks Charles is trying to force her to get surgery. Charles says not at all. She wants to wait on the surgery. Charles asks when she first noticed the tumor. It was during the beginning of COVID so she didn't think she should risk it. Charles said but later when it got bigger? Gina hoped it would go away on its own. She was afraid of what it could be that she found it easier to... Charles understands. She begins coughing and coughs up blood. Charles calls Marcel and Vanessa in.

Jim insists he just paid Stevie a compliment and that he should press charges. He isn't going to fund the hematology wing and storms off. Elaine tells Sharon that a female grad student also accused Jim of misconduct and she didn't believe it. Is this a midlife crisis?

Head CT was clean. Candace likely had a migraine. Candace says she doesn't pretend to be sick to scam people. Scott says he believes her.But her fear of diluting her message is not realistic. She says having lupus gave her a community and she doesn't want to lose that. Scott says walking a path that isn't yours comes with a steep price. Someone tells him his other patient is out of surgery. Candace says she's fine and thanks him.

Elaine wants to talk to Stevie. She says she's so sorry. She is not making excuses for Jim but she wants her to know he has never been like this and she doesn't know what happened to the man she married.  Stevie realizes something is wrong medically with Jim and they can't let them leave.

Archer says that the surgery went well. Michael is to be moved to the PICU. He hopes he isn't in trouble. Scott says he hopes Michael learned his lesson about playing with guns. Archer says privately to Scott that if he hadn't been there, Michael would have died.

Charles tells Vanessa the mind can convince you that just about anything is less bad than it is. A study shows that people disconnect from future outcomes. They have to get Gina to see her future self as relevant.

Stevie does a scan and Jim has a brain tumor that has caused his personality changes. Stevie suggests Sharon deliver the news.

Charles has a photo of Gina and wants to use an aging filter. He wants Gina to think about her future self. She doesn't want to. She hasn't thought about the future in a really long time. What if she doesn't have one? Charles asks well what if you do? What would you want it to look like? Gina sees herself with kids and an outdoor bookshop somewhere warmer than Chicago. Marcle says he gets she's scared. But if she postpones surgery she's denying herself a shot at a really great future. The doctors give her time to think it over.  Gina says she wants the surgery.

Candace has come clean to her followers but Will has looked at her test results and discovered her lupus is active again.

Will says the fact that Candace didn't see the car before it hit her, plus her white blood count and head pain, suggested lupus. They're going to ru n an MRI. Candace said it's what she deserves for crying wolf. People are angry that she lied to them and won't believe her if she tells them what happened now. Scott says understanding is a process. You laid out your truth and now give people a chance to come around.

Archer complains that Charles has not logged any patients into the portal. Charles says he's not using it. It doesn't make sense for psychiatry. They have to spend more time with patients. Archer says he thinks he's right, so maybe psychiatry shouldn't be part of the ED where speed is necessary. Charles laughed.

Now that Jim has had surgery, he is back to himself and has apologized to Stevie. Stevie says she was suspicious of him when she heard he was a donor. She asks Maggie if she can leave early.

Vanessa comes in to see Marcel. He is using the aging filter. Vanessa says she thought he wasn't into thinking about the future. Marcel says maybe it's not such a bad idea to give some thought as to where he might want to end up.

A device rep from Vas Com finds Will and wants to talk to him. She doesn't seem to be able to explain what the machine does. The bottom line is that they want him to help them promote the device and they would compensate him for his time and effort. He says he's interested. Sharon is watching.

Stevie goes to the homeless encampment. She gives her th money and starts to go. Mom asks if it's okay she uses it on the van. Stevie says it's up to her. Her mom thanks her. Stevie asks if they can get dinner somewhere. They could get takeout. The mom says okay.
