Recap

Eleanor and her husband are thrilled with Will's care. He says Cooper too. Cooper shows up to check the Vas-Com. Will goes to walk Goodwin out and he can't believe Cooper put in another Vas-Com. He thinks it's still risky.

Vanessa pops another pill in the locker room. Maggie shows up and wants to know did she get any sleep. Vanessa is annoyed.

Stevie goes to see her mom in the van, which is parked in a red zone. Her mom has decorated the van with stuff she found dumpster diving. Something is wrong with her arm. She also has a fever. Her arm is infected and Stevie wants to take her to the hospital. Mom doesn't want to but she faints so Stevie calls an ambulance.

Stevie's mom throws a tantrum about being in the hospital. Stevie wants Vanessa to treat her. Stevie decides to stay in the room with her mom and Vanessa. Charles is watching.

Will tells Charles that he's shocked Stevie doesn't have the perfect life.

Marcel meets a liver transplant candidate that Blake is working with. Outside, Blake tells Marcel that transplant surgery is a waiting game.

The father of a patient in the ED looks familiar to Scott. It's a little girl who fell down the stairs (supposedly). She hit her head when she fell. Scott orders a head CT and takes a look at her arm.  Meanwhile Scott looks familiar to the father too.

Later, Scott tells Maggie he arrested the father for assault and battery 10 years ago but he's fine.

Archer is annoyed that Marcel is late but their conversation is interrupted by a gun shot victim coming in.  Guy has no pulse but they continue CPR as he begins to flatline. Archer stands around while Marcel uses the paddles and restores a pulse. Archer remembers he's supposed to be part of this and says the guy needs blankets. Marcel calls for a brain scan and to have CPD run his prints.

Stevie says to Will she's sure he wasn't expecting her mom to be a street person. She's been dealing with this a long time and doesn't need help with it. Stevie tells Vanessa she wants her to be on the case so Stevie can keep on top of it.

Vanessa tells Terri about the infection. Terri doesn't want to hear anything Stevie has to say, while Stevie doesn't want Vanessa to talk. Terri doesn't want six weeks of IV meds. Vanessa says we can send a nurse to your house. Terri says Stevie is ashamed of her being homeless and she won't let her reel her back to the hospital like a fish.

Will sees a patient who insists he has a cold. He also has shortness of breath but his COVID test is negative. Gordon complains that his wife won't even let him ride a motorcycle.

Stevie goes to talk to Charles about her mom. She wants Charles to talk to her mom about refusing treatment. Mom never listens to her so could Charles try? Charles tells her he will but he can't declare her incompetent so that things will be easier for Stevie.

Shauvan's parents tell Scott that Shauvan is accident prone. She slipped on some water and hit her head a previous time. Dad says she is clumsy. Maggie says they will have an orthepedic resident set Shauvan's arm. Outside Scott wants to call DFCS. Maggie doesn't think that's necessary. Scott thinks this is all a lie. If she won't call them, he will.

Charles says Terri is depressed and anxious and possibly bipolar. But right now she has capacity. She can still make her own medical decisions. Vanessa suggests a pill form of antibiotics. Stevie says but she won't stick to the regimen. Charles says maybe she will since she has physical symptoms. Anyway it's her decision to make. Vanessa says she'll talk to her.

Stevie cries as Vanessa goes in.

John Doe has a very swollen brain and poor prognosis. Prints didn't turn up any records. Just then Blake's daughter shows up and complains that Blake is making her use the wheelchair.Avery thanks Marcel again. Blake asks about the John Doe. Irreversible brain damage. Blake says she will call a Uber for Avery as she wants to talk to Marcel about this patient.

Maggie tells Will she hates the idea of calling DFCS. Meanwhile something is wrong with Gordon. He can't breathe for some reason.

Stevie has found some sort of technology that will allow her to track whether her mom is taking the pills. Vanessa says how are you going to get her to sign off on this? Stevie doesn't see why Terri needs to know.

Cooper shows up at Gordon's bedside. Will is frustrated that Cooper is there and also he can't get oxygen flowing properly. Cooper says they have to paralyze Gordon. Marielle doesn't like that idea. Will talks to Cooper outside. There has to be something else to do. Cooper says there's not.

Marcel's patient crashes. No pulse. After an injection that's reversed. Blake shows up and says nice work. She mentions that the patient's liver is healthy and they should check his blood type. Marcel tells her they can't do a transplant without permission from a family member. Archer shows up and gets rid of Blake and then gives Marcel a lecture about caring as much about ED patients as he does transplant patients.

The DFCS worker shows up. The wife says that Brandon has been sober for years and he knows that Scott arrested him. Maggie assures her that the woman will give her a fair shake.  Maggie asks Scott if his perception is off because of his history with Brandon. Is he sure there is no other explanation besides child abuse?

Terri complains about the smell and the temperature. She doesn't like the idea of Stevie tracking her meds. She won't take the pills and won't staying the hospital now. Vanessa looks terrified.

Paralysis isn't working. Cooper wants to expand the lungs. Mariella doesn't think it's safe. Will hasn't done this before. Cooper says he's an expert in lungs and they can do this together.

Stevie asks Charles if he saw that. She doesn't know what to do. Charles says she has been parenting her mother most of her life. Stevie feels stupid about thinking she can get her mom to change. Charles suggests a different approach. Maybe something less parental. Taking a step back might benefit them both. At the very least Stevie would get a break.

No change. Cooper wants to do it again. But stats start climbing. Cooper is hopeful that Gordon will be okay.

Archer is tending to the comatose patient. Marcel shows up with the patient's cousin. Archer asks how? Marcel saw that a prosthetic hip had a serial number so he was able to find out who he was. Archer says so you and Blake might get what you're hoping for. Marcel says they had a moral obligation to find Ricky's next of kin. Archer doesn't believe him (like Archer is so above board?)

Scott comes to see everyone including the DFCS worker. He looked at her scans. He noticed that her cerebellum is atrophying. That could explain her clumsiness. He thinks the changes in her cerebellum are causing her to fall a lot. He thinks she has Tay Sachs.

Will tells Goodwin that Cooper saved his patients. So what if they're wrong about him? Sharon says that's why they have to be positive about this. Will hopes they are doing the right thing.

Blake comes to see Marcel. Cousin wants to do organ donation. Blake hopes his liver is a match. But the liver is already claimed by someone else. Marcel says he's not comfortable with what he did. Blake says his patient had no chance of recovery and someone will have a chance at life. What's the problem? Marcel isn't sure whose interest he looked after today. Blake says for someone to live someone else has to die. If he can't handle that, he's not cut out for transplant surgery.

Scott says the family is coping. Tay Sachs has no cure but Shauvan's case is mild. He's grateful Maggie confronted him.

Vanessa has discharged Terri. Terri says when you Stevie... never mind.

Vanessa goes to Maggie and apologizes for being harsh. Maybe it's not so bad that Maggie looks out for her. Maggie tells her in that case she needs to get some sleep.

Stevie watches her mom leave. She asks Scott for help. She wants to know who to call to get an illegally parked van towed. He gives her a number no questions asked.

Will asks Stevie how her mom is doing. She says she has to run and disappears. Will gets a tet and runs off.

Eleanor has died. Sharon wants to know could the Vas-Com have caused this? Will thinks it's possible. Sharon says then Cooper might have killed her.

Marcel watches Sheldon and says he's waiting. He wants to do this.

Stevie drives up and her mom cries that the van is gone. All her stuff was in there. Stevie says stay with me, you can't stay out here in the cold. She says they'll figure it out. Her mom says let's just go.  Stevie says she's sorry about before. She shouldn't have tried to trick her and was coming here to tell her to take her meds. But here, whatever you decide is up to you. Terri grabs the pills.
