When Scott learns that a cop who he is close to has been having mood swings and is in trouble for impulsive and reckless behavior, he refers him to Charles. Scott reasons that since Charles is not affiliated with the police, he is a safe person to talk to. However, when Charles talks to Joe, he quickly realizes that Joe is stalking his sergeant and struggles with the question of whether to report him.

Meanwhile, Stevie and Will go in search of her mother, who has pawned Stevie's bracelet to get some money. Stevie doesn't want Will to involve Jay. While in search of Terri, however, they come across a girl who is being neglected by her heroin-addicted mother.

Maggie has a tough choice to make too when she learns that Vanessa has been abusing drugs and is likely to fail an employer-required drug test.

Finally, Marcel isn't sure what to do when Blake demands he be on call for her 24/7 while Ethan sets back his recovery by insisting on doing a physically intensive procedure that intensifies his injuries.
