Unfortunately, he was stopped in customs and questioned about a bottle he was carrying. The security guard makes the mistake of opening the bottle and releasing a hunger demon which quickly possesses the man. Meanwhile, Manny the angel appears to John and questions him about Zed. "Putting a lot of time and effort into her. Let's hope it's not wasted" Manny says. When they return to the safe house, John and Zed find Gary Lester floating in a zero gravity trap. Gary shares his story about a man with containment markings all over his face. "Some bastard had trapped a demon in him" Gary informs them. That's right, the demon released at the airport. John makes it clear he does not trust Gary. The Newcastle event had traumatized each of them, but Gary was now a full fledged junkie. John visits a shaman friend of his and they take a drug which helps induce a shared vision. The two men witness the young man Gary came across being used as a container for the demon. John now understands he needs a sacred Kusa to trap the entity. John and Gary partner up to steal a Kusa from the local museum, which they pull off without a hitch. However, the catch is that the demon requires a sacrifice. "No cage, bottle or vessel can hold it; only a body. A live human body" John informs Gary. Naturally, Gary understood right away he was to be the sacrifice. He saw this as an opportunity to make his life mean something. John performs an incantation and traps the hunger demon inside Gary. He uses the stolen Kusa to carve the binding patterns on his face. The demon has been contained but at a terrible cost.
