Recap

Oh no. The previously on segment means we're going to see more of poor Moose.

Somewhere in West Virginia, a girl is trapped in the dark. She's trying to get out. She might be buried alive. She's in a metal box, but she's got a small flashlight. That terrifies her even more. She might be in an air duct.

While she's crawling, she hears another female voice screaming in terror. She works her way around and finds a red light flashing. She talks into what must be a camera, crying for help. Her face is on a monitor, likely in one of the shipping containers.

Penelope needs to discuss a development about the Tyler situation with Emily. Bailey interrupts; he and Emily need to present their case to the Attorney General. Bailey isn't doing well as they await her presence. He wants to throw up.

The attorney general is annoying from the moment she steps into the room.

JJ is also presenting information to Tara and Rossi about what they were able to salvage from the containers. Tara's head isn't in the game after Rebecca left. Rossi sends her on a three-day investigation of the tag. It's only about five minutes of work, and that's the point.

Emily will tender her resignation if the BAU can't do their job. AG counters by saying they're so laser focused on Sicarius, they're letting cases slide, including one in West Virginia.

Rossi says they missed it because they were saving two of their own and freeing a death row inmate. Now, they're shorthanded. But they're not.

Bailey thanks Rossi and the team for welcoming him. Irony all around. Their soul victim in West Virginia is a professor named Terry O'Brien. Grace Riley has also gone missing, and since she attended his class, that ties them together.

And since the BAU is under investigation AGAIN, they don't have the plane at their disposal anymore.

Elias is cooking breakfast. He's trying to be father of the year because Cyrus's comments about the real reason he came into his custody are playing inside his brain. Elias isn't a good guy. He imagines slicing his wife's throat. So, it is all a big charade.

Rossi and Alvez are with the coroner, who is unsure of the murder weapon which can whip and slice 314 in his skin. Alvez quotes scripture while the coroner says Terry was also made to crawl on his hands and knees for a significant period of time.

Another girl, the one we saw crawling, has been reported missing. Her name is Ashley. Terry had a previous arrest, but his record was scrubbed, likely to keep prospective college students from thinking it was unsafe.

Garcia tells Prentiss she kissed Tyler, and Emily is like, uh, what? She talks about how difficult it is when two agents date, but this is more than a headache since he's a material witness in the biggest case in BAU history.

Garcia needs to break everything off without seeing him again. Garcia pushes back by saying "what is time?"

Terry's parents don't think the FBI can solve the problem. After all, the country has lost faith in the FBI. Bailey recognizes the symbol on Terry's necklace and uses it as a way to connect with the parents. It works.

He's actually pretty good at this, which is unexpected and welcome since we can't get rid of him.

Terry sold the remainder of his oxy prescription to Grace and was turned in. It was a one-time thing, and they want the BAU to find his killer.

Bailey pulled that entire story about his father out of his ass. You don't get to be deputy director without knowing how to do that, he tells Prentiss.

Ashley is still in the ducts and, going backward, slides into a room with Grace. Someone else is in the ducts, and Grace says he's judging them.

The RFID belonged to Moose. Tawny has been looking for him since Thanksgiving. Tara is like WTF? Why did he leave Tawny alive? Guess he needed the dog and not her.

Ashley covered up a fellow student's overdose earlier in the year.

They bring in the professors and administration as well as the campus police help them find the unsub. He could be a custodian.

One of the college admins wants to distance themselves from this nightmare, but Bailey says you either protect the person you serve or protect your ass, but you can't do both.

Grace and Ashley get to know each other. They've been abandoned except for "him." He comes down sometimes with food and water. Sometimes? Ashley freaks. She's resigned and full of information. She says that they're down there because it's a test. Ashley wonders if it's for their sanity, and Grace says it's worse. Dude drops a canister of gas into their room.

Elias reads the news about Benjamin Reeves and Sicarius. Doesn't get a hit on Cyrus but gets one on Maria and the reopened case.

The girls are arguing and screaming. They've been asked to put down their phones for an hour. They think he should, too. He says, Jesus fuckin' christ, this family, or something to that effect. After he says it, he shoots them all between the eyes. His fantasies are getting worse the more the investigation continues.

There are Christmas lights lining the ducts. Ashley is alone, calling for Grace when she sees them. She heads into the ducts. She finds Grace, hanging by her hands, mouth gagged. The choices are that Ashley can take a door or she can take Grace's place. Ashley goes for the door, and it's locked. He laughs then readies the cat-o-nine whip with terrible blades on it before using it on Grace.

Tara gives Tawny the news about Moose. When Tawny gets the news, she says a prayer for Moose's soul. Tawny sees so many weirdos, but the store has cameras, so they can go get them. She says another prayer, this time asking God to refocus Tara so she can find the son of a bitch who killed Moose.

Garcia calls Taylor, asking him not to say anything. He does, she chastises him, and then wants to know if he hears her. Garcia does her thing. Tyler gets it. They have to cut off all contact. She needs her key, and he says he'll come by to drop it off and hangs up before she can object.

Sydney is angry with her husband. She's got words and wants him to come clean. She says she knows the truth about everything. She knows why he's acting like this. He's not in the mood for this shit, he says. She folows him into the garage where he has pulled out a kill case and removes a gun, which he has pointed at her. She finallhy says she knows he lost his job, and he puts down the gun and closes the case.

Ashley is crying against the wall when dude brings Grace into the room. Ashley made the same choice Grace did when Terry was there. Grace has one of these items embedded in her side. She and Grace pull it out, and Grace gives Ashley advice on what to do after she's dead.

Garcia and Bailey know who is behind it. His daughter died after buying drugs from a fellow student.

Prentiss and Bailey are suiting up together when she gets him to admit his story about his father was true after all. Apparently, he's an evil libertarian who owns so many guns for when the government comes to take them away.

Ashley is performing for the dude so she can lure him in to kill him. The team is on the way. Prentiss and Bailey are outside and hear the girls screaming when they attack him. Ashley is trying to find the key. She finds it and locks both of the injured in the room with together.

They find Ashley and head down toward Grace.

Emily has him at gunpoint, but he won't drop the garotte from around Grace's neck. They get the drop on him, and Doug is with Grace as she gets cold, ready to die. He talks with her until they arrive. His hands are covered in her blood, and he is in a state of shock.

Elias talks with Sidney. He thinks he should go. When he comes back, he'll be the husband she deserves. Fuck you, she says. He's not putting this on her. The husband she deserves is the father that they need. The girls are crying. He says it's not forever, but there's no way he's returning.

He's crying and saying the right stuff, but can he really mean it if he's always so close to killing them?

Everyone prepares to have a normal evening. Tara will turn off her phone, Will picks up JJ for a dinner.

Bailey talks with the AG, who denies their request. The Sicarius case is closed.

Tyler visits Garcia. They are so awkward about saying goodbye. But he stays and thanks her for making him want to live again. And they do not say goodbye.

Elias is in the woods digging while Rossi is watching Tawny's video footage. He's got Elias on the screen at the same time Elias pulls another case from the ground. Rossi knows it's Sicarius.

The credits begin, and then one of Garcia's neighbors checks on her because she heard things moving.

Tyler is laying on the counter. Garcia gets a bowl of cereal while Tyler is at a loss for words. She laughs. Nobody ever tells people how good nerds are in bed.

Bailey: How are you not nervous?
Prentiss: I guess after being assaulted, drugged, and killed in the line of duty, I figure, what's the worst that could happen?
