Rip is watching holographic messages from his wife and son, in tears. Stein interrupts.

A distress call is received. Rip wants to help because he can uplink for a software update. Mick wants to because he'll have a change of scenery. Snart thinks something is suspicious. Stein wants to see deep space, which he didn't know was even a possibility.

Snart and Mick are at odds.

Rip is doing a lot of flashing back, which is very confusing since his flashbacks don't really seem any different than the present. Oh, now he wears a long coat.

Oh lookie. Time pirates.

Stuff happens. 

Ray Palmer is having a blast pretending he's many different ships captains throughout time.

Oh lookie, there's the real ship's captain from the other ship.

Rip remembers more memories.

Ray and Sara are cold and huddled together, talking about death. He asks about the real thing. Then he shares what it was like meeting Mick, his first day in Juvie at age 14. 

Rip and Mick argue, Rip saying he only recruited a man with the IQ of meat because Snart wouldn't come without him.

For some reason, Ray is falling asleep while fixing the ship. His new crush Kendra talks to keep him awake.

He patched the hole in the hull and fell asleep and fell away. Or something. I'm so confused. He goes into cardiac arrest. Oh. He was frozen. It seems unclear why his suit wouldn't save him from that.

When Mick brings pirates for to take over the Waverider, Snart realizes it's time to choose a side. He does, and it's not Mick's.
