Recap

In the cave, Angela tells Dexter he has an hour before Teddy returns with the rest of the team. She gives Dexter some gloves, and he starts to examine Iris's corpse. He remarks that the cold kept her mummified. He deduces that she was shot from behind by a rifle from a distance, but not here. She was dragged and buried while still alive and tried to dig herself out from underneath the rocks.

Dexter pulls out one of Iris's teeth, noting that there is what appears to be human skin on it, which means she could have bitten her attacker. Angela tells Dexter her theory -- that it was Kurt Caldwell. She tells him that even though there was no sign of Matt, Kurt called off the search right before they were to explore the caves.

Angela visits Miriam to tell her about Iris.

Dexter makes breakfast for Harrison, and they eat together. Dexter asks him about his day. Harrison tells his father he will be missing dinner to work his first shift at the truck stop. Harrison gets up, thanking Dexter for breakfast before he leaves. Deb encourages Dexter to kill Kurt. Dexter argues that if he were to just make Kurt disappear, Harrison would never find out what kind of monster Kurt is. Dexter puts his faith in the strength of Angela's case.

Dexter calls Angela to tell her about Kurt's cabin. They drive up together. He says he didn't mention it before now because of Molly, but after this morning, he couldn't keep it a secret any longer. He tells Angela that he overheard Kurt and Molly in the tavern and that Kurt told Molly that Matt was up at the cabin. Dexter followed out of concern for Molly.

They arrive at the cabin, which Angela has never seen or heard of before. Dexter says he forced his way in -- Matt was not there. Angela wonders if Iris was only the first of Kurt's victims. Dexter notes that it looks like something heavy was dragged from out of the hurricane doors. Angela draws her weapon, shoots the lock of the hurricane doors open, and they head down.

The hallway smells of bleach. There are scratch marks on the wall. The downstairs room has been completely stripped. Dexter describes to Angela how the room used to look -- a door that locked from the inside, bed, camera. Dexter says Kurt must have something to hide and that Kurt is a step ahead of them. Angela says that they are ahead because Kurt doesn't know they found Iris.

At school, Harrison approaches Audrey, asking if she wants to hang out over break. She says she shouldn't since her mother was angry about their dalliance. He asks again, saying how much he likes her. She responds that she likes him, too, but questions him about his actions at the wrestling match. Harrison gets flustered and leaves.

Harrison suits up and gets to work pressuring washing trucks. Dexter shows up and gets a coffee at the truck stop. Harrison comes in, asking what Dexter is doing. Dexter states that he is just here to support his son. Harrison gets back to work. Kurt brings Dexter a slice of free pie and sits down with him. Kurt talks about what a great worker Harrison is. They trade thinly veiled barbs about their sons. Dexter asks Kurt if Molly ever got to speak to Matt. Kurt notes how helpful "Jim" was during the search for Matt and the time Kurt was drunk outside the tavern.

Angela and Logan show up at the truck stop and arrest Kurt for Iris's murder. They lead him off in handcuffs. Harrison calls after Logan in confusion.

At the station, Kurt gets his mugshots taken.

Molly bursts into Angela's office and immediately starts recording, excited that they have solved the case. Angela calls Molly out for keeping her visit to Kurt's cabin secret. Angela asks Molly to leave, and she does.

Dexter texts Angela, asking if Kurt has said anything yet. Angela replies that he has not, but he will.

Harrison finishes up cleaning a truck. The trucker offers Harrison $20 to help him move some cargo.

Kurt insists he's innocent. He says he doesn't even know who the girl in question is. Angela says he must be lying -- she shows him the missing person poster with Iris's photo on it. Kurt doesn't understand why Angela thinks he is involved. Angela asks him about the night Matt turned up safe. Kurt says he got the call at home, but Angela tells him that their search showed no incoming calls on any of his devices or phone lines, even at work.

Angela tells him that she believes he called off the search before they got to Clark Caves because he was worried about what they would find. Kurt considers this to be an elaborate theory. Angela asks about the scar on his hand, but he brushes it off. He tells her she has made a mistake. Angela tells him they found his DNA on Iris's body that matched his. Kurt asks for his lawyer.

Harrison helps the trucker move some barrels. The trucker gives Harrisson a small envelope and tells him to give it to his father.

Harrison returns home. He tells Dexter not to visit him at work. He gives his father the envelope and heads to his room. Dexter opens the envelope. It's a small piece of metal.

The Seneca community come out in support of Miriam and Abraham in the wake of the discovery of Iris. Audrey and Angela embrace Miriam. Miriam urges Angela to make Kurt pay for what he did.

Dexter goes to Mrs. Gross's farm and lets her sheep out.

Teddy rushes off to assist Mrs. Gross, leaving the police station unattended.

Dexter enters the police station and confronts Kurt, telling him to keep his minions away from Harrison. Kurt says his situation is temporary. Dexter notes that you can't get away with everything -- something always gets left behind. Kurt agrees. He mentions the snow on the night Dexter picked him up and then how he realized it was not snow but ash. Kurt tells Dexter that titanium doesn't melt.

Dexter returns to his truck. He looks at the piece of metal and realizes it is a titanium screw from Matt's reconstructed leg. Dexter now understands that Kurt knows he killed Matt.

Dexter offers Harrison a ride to work.

At the station, Kurt has a private discussion with his lawyer. His lawyer comes out and tells Logan and Angela that Kurt would like to make a statement. Angela tells Logan to call the DA.

Kurt talks about how his father was abusive towards his mother, so eventually, she left -- without Kurt. His father, a trucker, would take Kurt on the road with him. Kurt's father would pick up women on the road and treat them cruelly while Kurt was supposed to be asleep -- instead, the young boy heard everything. When he couldn't take it anymore, he would put on "Runaway" by Del Shannon.

Angela interrupts him, asking about Iris. Kurt fast forwards to when he was a young man and had his own truck route, but he would buy his father a meal whenever their routes intersected. Kurt explains that he saw his father pick up Iris and drive away.

FLASHBACK: Young Kurt picks up the hitchhiking Iris. He tells her she shouldn't be alone. Iris says she wasn't supposed to be alone -- her best friend was meant to be with her. Kurt says he will take her home. Iris tries to get out of the truck, but she can't open the door. He pulls her back, and she bites his hand. With his hand bleeding, Kurt stops the truck. Iris gets out and starts to run down the highway. Kurt pulls out his rifle and guns her down in one shot.

Kurt says he always wanted to believe that Iris had just run off, but now he believes his father was the one responsible for her death, and the DNA will prove it. Angela doesn't believe him and starts to yell at him. The DA comes to get Angela.

Angela tells the DA that the DNA indicates a 67% chance that it is him, but the DA counters that the 33% chance that it isn't him is too much reasonable doubt for him to be convicted of any crime.

Logan returns Kurt's belongings, justifying their actions. Kurt says it's only Angela that owes him an apology. Logan tells Kurt they wouldn't have had to arrest him in the first place if he had told them what happened with Iris all those years ago. Kurt offers Angela a handshake and a "sorry for your loss," but she doesn't touch him or speak.

Dexter breaks into Kurt's office, searching for any additional surgical screws. He adjusts a crooked plaque on the wall. In a small envelope, he finds a check to Elric Kane for $5000. On his way out, Dexter overhears Susan and another employee talking about how Kurt has been released. Dexter realizes he will have to kill Kurt.

At the tavern, Molly finds Angela and joins her. Angela is dissatisfied without confirmation. Molly tells her that this is often the way of things. Angela tells Molly that she was supposed to have gone with Iris. Molly reassures Angela that she also got creepy vibes from Kurt and that she was glad "Jim" showed up to save her, though she remarks that it was weird that he was there.

Angela tells Molly that "Jim" followed her after overhearing her and Kurt talking about Matt. Molly says "Jim" was too far away to overhear and deduces that "Jim" must have recorded the conversation. Angela notes that's it's weird that "Jim" was eating pie with Kurt after knowing he was the prime suspect. Molly thinks both men are weird, but "Jim" couldn't hide anything from Angela.

Kurt watches Molly from inside his truck across the street.

Some Moose Creek wrestlers show up at Harrison's work and threaten him. Harrison pulls out his straight razor, and the wrestlers back off. Harrison slashes one of their sleeves. He continues to go at them, but Dexter pulls Harrison off. As the other teens leave, Harrison shares with Dexter that he has nightmares about his mother's murder, and now he realizes that they are memories. Harrison tells Dexter that he wants to hurt people all the time, and he understands now that this is why Dexter left.

Some of Harrison's friends drive by, and Harrison gets a ride with them. As Dexter returns to his car, he is attacked by Kurt's trucker friend.
