On Dietland Season 1 Episode 3, Plum makes the decision to go off her medications, but Verena tells her she shouldn't do it cold turkey. Plum decides to still continue on not taking the pills, but the side effects start to get to her. She sees hallucinations and she answers letters to the editor while having withdrawals and says some very unflattering things. 

Steven and her mother end up showing up at the apartment to try to knock some sense into Plum, but she ends up revealing exactly how she feels. Plum lets them both know she wants to lose the weight because she doesn't see herself as worthy. There's no way either one of them would understand because they can't see past the blinders they have for her. By going off the medication she is able to finally tell people she loves exactly how she feels and why she wants to have weight loss surgery. 

Meanwhile, Kitty is surprised to find out one of the bodies which fell from high above was Malleck. She explains to Cheryl the reason they were protecting him is because they view him as part of the family of Austen Media. Kitty goes on to say they need to find out who is the person behind these murders because they may have more information on her.
