Flagellation birds with the faces of the Doom Patrol team members sit outside the mansion.

Vic witnesses a memory from his childhood where he and Silas encounter racism in a toy store. The Cyborg bird flies in and Vic replaces a black army figurine in the box.

Kay as an adult is singing with a group of children's puppet characters when a Jane muppet walks in. Jane muppet notices that there are muppets of Pretty Polly, Dr. Harrison, and Hammerhead as well as a talking Harry the Lamb. Kay explains they're on Underground Avenue. Hammerhead explains it's Kay's subconscious and she's in control.

A Dada bird with Kay/Jane's face flies in and Kay disappears.

Robot Cliff walks up to his old business and runs into his human self who can see him and explains that he's in a subconscious memory. Bird flies in, Human Cliff disappears. Robot Cliff is invited in.

Larry's walking in a church and finds himself getting ready for his wedding. A bird flies in, his past self disappears.

Young Larry walks into the mansion drawing room and meets up with Kay, Human Cliff, and General Tony, the toy from Vic's memory. They're watching the news about the fog.

Rita enters to explain the situation. Everybody in the world has swapped places with their subconscious selves so that no one will be able to hide who they really are.

Flashback to the Brotherhood of Evil, 1949. Rita sees The Brain addressing Laura, giving her a mission and her new name, Madame Rouge.

Larry watches his mother go through with her plea for him to be a moral, straight man. He addresses her with his truth. She is unable to hear his words.

On Underground Avenue, Harry tries to tell the personas what Kay wants and they beat the stuffing out of him.

Boy Vic self-talks himself while Toy Vic tries to convince him otherwise.

In the mansion, the subs and Rita are going over Rouge's history and mission to destroy Niles Caulder's legacy. They leave the mansion and enter the fog.

In 1949, Rouge prepares for her mission and runs into Rita at the salon. They discuss what changed in DeMille. Rita grabs her by the throat but she transforms into Malcolm and Rita is overcome by emotion. Rouge bids her goodbye with Malcolm's face and voice.

In the fog, the subs abandon Rita.

In his subconscious, Cliff's friends, including his wife's lover, bring out a hooker gift and he goes off with her.

In the mansion, General Tony builds a blanket fort for Kay and the others. Human Cliff gets beers and snacks. Young Larry looks out the window.

General Tony convinces Larry to come into the fort.

In 1949, Rita sneaks into the Bureau of Normalcy to re-steal the time machine. Traveling forward in time, she picks up all her shame and insecurity. To ensure she encounters Malcolm again, she travels to the Codsville Resort to shove herself back into the lounge where Samuelson kills her.

Larry tries to engage the subs in the blanket fort in some talk therapy. No takers.

Cliff finds out from the hooker that there's a little girl in the back seat of his Camaro. He tries to escape the memory and sees the portal to Quiz. He leaps through.

Larry sits looking at his mother's ring. Cliff comes into the room. He leads Larry through another Quiz portal.

Despite themselves, the subs start talking.

Cliff and Larry find Vic in his toy box. Before they go, Vic has Larry leave one of his mom's rocks on the window sill for him.

On Underground Avenue, Jane accuses Dr. Harrison of stealing the bike just before the guys burst in and rescue her.

The personas left behind vow that Jane won't leave them with a mess ever again.

The team rides Larry's birthday car cake through Dada space and emerges in the mansion where they meet their subs.

Larry and his sub connect. Their bird arrives. The sub disappears.

Cliff and his sub share about leaving Clara in the car all night so he could party. His sub points out that Cliff is doing the same thing now with the Internet addictions. The bird shows up. The sub disappears.

Vic walks out of the tent. Tony follows. He advises Vic to rediscover his childhood. Bird arrives and Tony disappears.

Jane and Kay discuss how the personas are causing her trauma. She wishes the personas would die. The bird flies in. A Jane-looking human remains and she starts to tear the blanket fort apart. The others flee.

Kay crawls out of the collapsed fort. They noticed that the fog is lifting. Suddenly, they all disappear.

Cliff finds himself in the garage with Clara asking what's going on with him. She tells him it's not working. He agrees.

Jane finds Kay in the Underground. All the other personas are gone.

Larry goes to find the space larva and bring it home.

Silas wakes Vic from the operating table where he's completely flesh covered now.

Rita and Rouge face off at the side of a lake.
