Recap

Starts in The Future with a single shrouded armed figure walking through a desolate landscape. It is Cloverton and the town’s signage indicates an infection of zombies destroyed the population.

The figure uses a metal detector and finds a Rolex wristwatch stopped at 5:40. They chuck it.

There’s a disturbance and the figure throws back his hood, revealing a curiously weaponized Vic. He waits for the intruder only to realize the disturbance is under his feet and he falls into a sinkhole.

The Present: Dr. Harrison is now the primary alt. She records her observations of the team since she joined ninety-three days ago. Recording 297 is about the Codpiece Mission.

In her recount, she stops to describe Rita’s abilities as the team’s new leader. They’ve succeeded on seven straight missions. She still hates Madame Rouge.

Harrison analyzes Rouge’s willingness to put up with Rita’s abuse as guilt over Malcolm and the Sisterhood.

Rita figured out how to streamline the time machine by attaching Shipley’s head directly to the machine. She also solved the time travel amnesia with jellyfish on their heads.

The team’s initial attack on Codpiece, a bank robber with a weaponized phallus strap-on, doesn’t go well.

Cliff’s missing some parts due to shipping delays related to the testicle creature encounter. Vic and Silas have been rebuilding him bit by bit.

Vic is now the team’s IT squad. He still has heroic tendencies and during the Codpiece encounter, he confronts Codpiece’s IT guy, turns it into a lecture on the importance of being the IT support, and then discovers the guy has a weaponized anus. Rita saves Vic and admonishes him to stick to her plan or stay home.

Harrison reports that Vic’s still trying to find his happiness outside of superheroing. He’s on social media trying to connect with old friends, but pulling back from actually doing it.

Harrison’s observations of Larry are that he and Keeg are connecting deeply. She feels that Larry wants more than that.

Harrison believes Rouge won’t use the jellyfish because she likes being able to forget what she did for a little while. Whenever she has a moment, she’s been searching for the people she labeled weapons for the Bureau. They’ve all been disappeared.

Harrison is using her therapist powers to defuse targets, earning her a place on the team.

In The Underground, Kay is still missing, and Jane spends her time in Abuelita’s house. Dr. Harrison accuses her of being on vacation.

Silas and Vic are working on Cliff’s new arm. Silas asks Vic about finding his bliss. Vic gets defensive. They talk about it and appreciate each other’s help.

Rita uses the house alarm to call everyone down to the lab. Cliff is excited about his arm. Silas and Vic present it and explain they’ve added some sensation to one of the fingers. Cliff decides he wants the first thing he touches in forty years to be his grandson. He puts on an oven mitt to prevent touching anything until he can hold his grandson.

The team heads to the time machine to go to Florida to see Cliff’s grandson. Rouge pulls Rita aside and offers to move out if Rita can’t forgive her.

In the time machine, Rita forces Rouge to take a jellyfish so she’ll remember she promised to leave Doom Manor.

As they’re time traveling, a woman flies into the windshield. Rita realizes it’s Isabel Feathers from the ‘Our Town’ production. The impact knocks them off-course.

They arrive in the post-apocalyptic Cloverton. They hear noises and head for the manor. Rita draws their attention to a bowl of Vienna sausages and Skittles. When Cliff reaches for the bowl, it triggers a cage trap to drop from the ceiling.

Future Vic arrives and welcomes them to 2042. He sits them down for tea and tells them the apocalypse started in Cloverton in 2022. It was called the “Butt-pocalypse” and started with a single zombie were-butt. They realize they must have zombie-fied the surviving butt.

Harrison asks about the rest of the team. Future Vic says they’re in their rooms. The others go to say hi but Future Vic tells Rouge she won’t find anyone in her room. He isn’t able to tell her if she’s dead or alive because she moved out right before the Butt-pocalypse began.

Future Vic invites Vic to go for a walk. Rouge sits down in the kitchen and goes through notes and clippings she finds there. She discovers she led the negotiation team for peace talks with The Butts. She also finds notes on time travel.

The others find their ghosts in their rooms. Rita’s ghost tells her they failed at leading the team. Harrison’s ghost accuses her of putting her ego before Kay’s well-being and getting her killed. Cliff’s ghost tells him he never gets to touch his grandson. Larry finds his ghost in the greenhouse, curled up and rocking on the ground. The ghost tells him Keeg doesn’t live here anymore. A ghost Keeg, all grown up in size and shape, arrives and shares something with Larry’s Keeg.

Rouge finds Vic tied up in the lab. Future Vic plans to steal their time machine.

Flashback to 45 minutes previous and Future Vic telling the ghosts to keep their past selves busy while he steals the time machine.

As Future Vic approaches the time machine, Vic calls him out. The rest of the team is there too. The Butts attack. Dr. Harrison advises they retreat into the time machine and escape. Vic wants Future Vic to tell them how to prevent this future. He refuses to get into the time machine. He and Future Vic fight the Butts, back to back. Suddenly, Silas is there, which distracts the Vics. It’s Rouge, shapeshifted to look like Silas. Rita grabs Vic and drags him into the time machine.

As they’re launching, Future Vic communicates to Vic that he should look at the ship when they get out. The Butts get Future Vic.

When they arrive back in their time at Doom Manor, Vic finds Future Vic’s message scratched into the time machine. “U CANT HAV IT ALL”

In Larry’s room, Keeg is agitated. He bangs on the door. Larry opens it at Keeg flies away.

Dr. Harrison goes to find Jane in the Underground. Jane insists on being primary again. Suddenly, Dr. Harrison dissolves and blows away, leaving Kay standing in front of Jane. Jane tries to talk to Kay, who tells her, “Don’t follow me!” Jane wakes up in her room with a bagful of blank puzzle pieces.

Rouge knocks on Rita’s door to ask her about seeing Isabel Feathers in the timestream. Rouge has decided not to move out which causes Rita’s face to melt.

Vic mulls over Future Vic’s message and he finally sends a message to a friend, Deric Hayes, over social media.

Cliff draws a face on his oven mitt and vows he’ll get to Rory as soon as he stops the Butt-pocalypse.

Flash to a meeting of the Knights Templar. Willoughby arrives. They’ve been summoned by Bunbury who warns them the Flora and Fauna have made an urgent discovery. They give Willoughby a photo which Willoughby declares a hoax, but Bunbury insists it is real. Willoughby declares everyone well and truly fucked if it is. The photo shows the words, “IMMORTUS WILL RISE,” written into a field.

Doom Patrol Season 4 Episode 1 Quotes

Rita: Not behind the bush! His ammo will cut right through.
Codpiece: Just like my milky man batter!
Rita: Could you try not to be disgusting for two seconds?

Cliff: Why do you get to pick the codenames? Because they suck.
Rita: When you spend days researching and plotting missions while getting paper cuts and inky fingers, you can choose the codenames, okay? Until then, you’re Robotman. Dr. Harrison is Crazy Jane. Larry is Negative Man. Vic is Cyborg. And Rouge, you’re Dogshit McGivens.
