Recap

Jason Street (Scott Porter) needs to get a new transmission for car that would set him back $4,000. Seeing as he only has $8,000 to his name, he's in dire straits. Buddy offers him a job at the dealership.

The other salespeople aren't happy about adding Jason to their team because they are already overstaffed and he'll be encroaching on their commissions.

He inadvertently steps on the toes of all the other salespeople, including a bitchy blond who steals his first sale. Jason Street vindicates himself by convincing the perennial window shopper to buy his dream car.

Meanwhile, Riggins' old roommate and his thug pals catch up with him and bash him in the head with a beer bottle for stealing their $3,000.

Tim uses his run-in with the meth heads as an excuse to get Lyla (Minka Kelly) over to his house where he surprises her with dinner.

She walks out on him, but he runs after her and lays it all on the line: he loves her. Riggins, ever the victim. She rejects him outright.

Later, she shows compassion by giving him the cash he needs to pay back the thugs, but promises this is the last time she's coming over.

Billy and Tim go over to the dude's house to return the money and naturally they get into scuffle with the thugs.

Lyla's relationship with her Christian boyfriend seems to be progressing as she tells him all about the skeletons in her closet, but it doesn't seem to faze this good-hearted soul. What will become of these two?

Eric (Kyle Chandler), as the new AD of Dillon High School, is stressed out because they need a new girls' volleyball coach, and he strong-arms Tami (Connie Britton) to take the reins. The team is dreadful.

That is, until Tami recruits Tyra (Adrianne Palicki) and her height to be the new spiker for the volleyball team. Tyra is, of course, reluctant at first as she hates organized... anything. But she rocks on the court.

Later, Julie (Aimee Teegarden) and Eric are in the bleachers, taking in Tami's first game, and it's a great family bonding scene.

Landry (Jesse Plemons) has a physics study friend named Jean. She's brainy and has funky platinum blond dreads and way too hip for school.

Tyra gets jealous, especially when they show up at Applebee's. Matt (Zach Gilford) calls Landry's new girl "God's little gift to Landry."

Reason #1: She and Landry bond over Christian power metal.

Lastly, Smash gets arrested for assault after his altercation at the movie theater. Mama advises him to plead guilty, as that would get him off with just a misdemeanor. Smash's girlfriend comes by to apologize.

Smash gets himself into even more hot water, however, by shooting his mouth off to a reporter. Eric is forced to suspend him for three games.
