On the season premiere of Hell on Wheels…

Cullen Bohannon emerges from a long winter in the battle torn Hell on Wheels.

He recruits Elam Ferguson, who just had his baby with Eva, to help him try and win leadership of the railroad with the backing of The Credit Moblier.

Durant, still in prison, tries to undermine Bohannon.

Bohannon is able to gain men to join him in continuing to build the railroad, including the McGinnes brothers.

Louise Ellison, a journalist has arrived in the town to record the proceedings of the railroad construction.

Ruth has taken her father's place as religious counsel, even providing Bohannon an outlet to speak his thoughts.

McGinnes makes a deal with Durant over food.

A Mormon family refuses to move their home out of the way of the railroad killing the new sheriff in the process. Ferguson becomes the the new sheriff in his place.

The father of the Mormon family says his son committed the crime and Bohannon is forced to hang him for the crime.

Bohannon plants a stake in the ground continuing the construction as the new leader of the building.
