House learns about the fate of the rats that had been injected with the experiment drug this week, as the doctor in charge of that study reveals their deaths/tumors. House therefore places himself inside an MRI and discovers four tumors in his leg.

Does he tell anyone about them? Of course not. Instead, he actually tries to operate on himself. The result is ugly and painful, forcing House to call in Cuddy for help.

She arrives, is horrified by what she sees and takes House to the hospital. The surgery on his tumors is a success, although it leaves him in major pain and with the realization that he can't solve his emotional problems by fixing his physical one.

Elsewhere:
- Taub learns he's gonna be a father! Ruby is knocked up and Taub originally wants her to have an abortion. But he then has a near-death experience when a stripper pulls a gun on him and he tells Ruby he wants to be a father.

- Thirteen is forced to tell Chase she was in prison because he arrives at her apartment to help with a former inmate, a woman who is back on drugs and got stabbed by her boyfriend. Despite Thirteen's promise that she would not take this individual to the hospital, because she'd be sent back to jail there, Chase forces the issue.

In the end, Thirteen thanks him, realizes she was wrong and admits she might never be able to get over euthanizing her brother.
