Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 2 Episode 4 revolves around the question of whether Stabler is crossing too many lines and what it's doing to him as a person.

While undercover as Eddie, Stabler gets into a fight with Luca, who questions Eddie's loyalty to the Albanian mob. Unfortunately, Luca is engaged to Costa's daughter, and mob rules dictate that Costa must kill Eddie in retaliation for beating up his future son-in-law.

Bell thinks Stabler should be pulled off the case, or at least put in urgent care with a stomach virus so that he doesn't have to face Costa. Stabler refuses. That would destroy his trust with the mob and make him look weak. Bell reluctantly agrees to just watch while he deals with Costa.

Stabler, knowing death is probable, tells Eli he loves him and attempts to leave a message for Liv telling her how he feels about her but her voicemail cuts him off and he gives up. Costa gives him another chance despite Luca's continual whining about it. Stabler must replace Luca at a planned robbery of a bar where a bookie that is forcing an Albanian to throw a boxing match keeps his money.

Brewster doesn't like it. He wants to arrest the mobsters pre-robbery, but Bell and Stabler tell him he can't do that. During the robbery, Stabler shoots a man in self-defense and feels guilty. Meanwhile, Jett works with Malachi to get compromised phones into the hands of the gangs in New York so that they can infiltrate major mob operations.
