Law & Order: SVU Season 23 Episode 4 revolves around the clash between Benson and McGrath as the new Chief takes over the department.

When a young mother is raped but had sex with three guys in addition to her rapist, McGrath orders that Benson slow her roll. He doesn't think there's enough evidence and maybe there isn't even a rape. However, soon a cop's daughter is raped the same way and suddenly McGrath is interested in the case.

The rapist turns out to be an ice cream vendor who has interacted with both women. He is arrested after a chase, though Vilasco, who has been hired by McGrath, beats the suspect up. However, McGrath is adamant that the ice cream vendor is charged only with the rape of the cop's daughter and not of Krystal.

Benson is upset and orders that they check for touch DNA in Krystal's apartment. They find it and Carisi prepares to arraign Travis on both charges. However, McGrath has sent a guy to cancel Krystal's charges and Carisi is forced to withdraw at the last minute. Travis gets 15 years in jail and McGrath thinks Benson should be happy with that but she tells him that he'd better never interfere with her cases again or he'll have to take her gun and shield.
