Law & Order: SVU Season 24 Episode 2 revolves around a gang attack on a family that is visiting New York. The Whitmans are in town so their older daughter can visit colleges, but while they are there, some members of a Bronx gang steal the father's phone, kill him with a machete, and rape the younger daughter, who is 14.

McGrath insists that Benson work this case with Captain Duarte of the Bronx Gang Unit. No one is happy about this, especially not Benson and Fin, and it gets worse when a suspect falls to his death and Benson suspects Duarte pushed him. When she confronts Duarte, he reveals that he is trying to poach Velasco without talking to her first.

Meanwhile, the team is able to arrest the two gang members who raped Nora, but Duarte wants them to flip on the gang leader so he can get rid of the gang. The rapists won't talk without immunity. Benson wants justice for Nora. McGrath doesn't see what's wrong with Duarte's idea.

McCoy vetoes the immunity deal, shocking the boys and annoying Duarte.
