Recap

A shooting at a nightclub. A woman tries to warn people and gets shot for the trouble. The woman who was killed was Hannah Grey, a famous model. Shaw talks to the kid who Hannah saved. Hannah's father shows up trying to find out whether his daughter is okay.

Cosgrove and Shaw try to comfort Hannah's dad. They say she died a hero. He doesn't know if she had any enemies as she was very private.

A cop tells Cosgrove that the scene was chaotic and he thinks the shooter was gone by the time he got here. No one saw anything.

Cosgrove talks to a guy who can't believe Hannah died. She was a good person. However he says she and some dude got into a nasty argument and he called security.

The suspect says he and Hannah were friends and he was her first agent. He introduced her to her boyfriend, King Matisse, who is a rapper. He says Hannah fired him but it was Matisse's idea. Matisse got in his face and he got kicked out around 11. He has a receipt on his phone.

Cosgrove tells Dixon that he thinks the shooter was after Hannah. It's a big coincidence that she was the only one shot. Dixon says they need evidence.

Cosgrove and Shaw go to talk to Matisse, who says Hannah was special. Things got crazy so he bounced. He has a story about how he saw the shooter, tried to grab the gun, then things got crazy. Matisse eventually admits someone threatened him recently.

At Matisse's store (he has his own sneaker line) a clerk says he confronted Matisse about his anti-LGBTQ posts online, but it didn't mean anything. His alibi checks out. However, surveillance video from the shooting has been deleted -- from the cloud too.

The manager says it's not his responsibility. He doesn't know who handles tech but he'll find out. Cosgrove says they'll wait. He admits he deleted the video.

King is brought in and questioned about why he paid to have that video deleted. He is not cooperative and doesn't like being disrespected. When Shaw confronts him he asks for a lawyer.

The cops talk to a waitress who says she was looking at Matisse and Hannah when everything happened. Matisse ran away and hid in a bathroom. She was disappointed that he didn't protect his girlfriend.

Dixon says that she can't believe Matisse deleted the video because it showed he was a coward. There is surveillance video at a bodega showing the suspect. The suspect is Bishop Bell, an ex-ball player who lost his career when he got injured. He bought cigarettes and beer and said he was very uervous and needed to calm down.

Bishop decides to run away. Shaw jumps some fences during the obligatory chase scene and catches Bell.

Bishop insists he had nothing to do with the shooting and he and Hannah were close. The cops have a letter where Bishop says he had a lot of rage toward Hannah that wouldn't go away as long as she was alive. Bishop says he was in love with her. Cosgrove is sure that Bishop was jealous of Hannah's new life. Bishop says he was always about the game, not the life. The cops press him.  Cosgrove says if he takes responsibility he'll be out in less than 15 years. Bishop wants a lawyer.

Nolan says they don't have a case unless they can prove Bishop was at the crime scene.

The cops talk to a witness and he says he chased the gunman past a cop car that was parked and the cop didn't get out.

The detectives talk to the cop from the first scene who accuses them of wanting to throw him under the bus. They show him the photo of him sitting in the car and the shooter going right past him. He says he's done talking.

Nolan says they need the officer to ID the shooter. Riley tries to say he didn't see the shooter. His PBA rep tries to deny it but Nolan isn't having it.  Riley insists he saw nothing.  It is only when Nolan threatens him with criminal charges that Riley admits he saw the shooter running past him.

The People seek remand on Bishop's case. The defense attorney says dangerousness is not relevant and they want bail of $100k and say there's n o case. The judge remands anyway.

Nolan says the case rests on their ability to put Bishop in t he club. The case comes down to Riley but McCoy wonders if a jury will buy the testimony of a coward cop. They need to humanize Riley.

Nolan presents the threatening letter in his opening.

Nolan tells Riley that he will be addressing his misstatements and just stay calm. Riley says he has three cousins and an uncle who are also cops and he has been a cop a long time.

Riley takes the stand. He admits he didn't want anyone to know he hid in his patrol car. (Isn't that the same reason King Matisse deleted the video?)

The defense attorney says Riley lied and details his lies. The judge does not allow him to call Riley a coward. However she overrules Nolan's objection that they've already been over this. Therefore how can the jury believe him? Riley says he froze. The defense attorney says if he froze he didn't see the suspect. The defense attorney says he admits he's a coward (which was what he was already told not to say) Riley says he is human and isn't always a hero but he saw the shooter.

The NY Ledger feels a need to have a headline calling Riley NYPD Yellow. Nolan is not happy about this. McCoy says it's not Nolan's fault. The jury is back.

Bishop is found guilty.

Some guy punches Nolan. Maroun tells him Riley committed suicide.
