Lisey flashes back to a night when Amanda told her that Lisey was going to have to keep Scott connected to the real world.

Catatonic Amanda has a vision of her and her two sisters on a pirate ship named the Hollyhocks. She fears a creature called the Long Boy. Lisey calls Dashmiel about Dooley and his threats, and Dashmiel said he had told Dooley not to use violence.

She tells him to call off Dooley or she'll have Dashmiel arrested for harassment. Dashmiel discovered Dooley's phone has been disconnected. He flashes back to their first meeting. Lisey recalls when Scott sold his first novel and he showed up hours late for their date.

After storming out, Scott remembers his abusive father and breaks a window, slashing his arms. This blood bool was his method of apologizing to her. That night, after they talk about their relationship, he slips away to Booya Moon.

The waters there heal his wounds. She agrees to marry him. Lisey finds her next clue behind the photo of Scott's first advance check, an ad for mouthwash. She calls Alberness and has him check inside his copy of Scott's "Battle Flags."

There is a message that says "Cedar box." Dooley visits Scott's old house and accosts the current owner. Dooley spies on Lisey's house while chewing on a slice of pizza, then invades her home.

Lisey is visiting the Cleaves Mills police chief about Dooley, and he offers protection that she declines. Lisey finds a bloody crow in her mailbox and a note from Dooley. She grabs her weapon of choice: the shovel she used on Scott's shooter.

The police chief reads Jim's letter out loud and suggests she relocate. Lisey refuses. She gets a glimpse of Booya Moon in her pool.
