On Madam Secretary Season 2 Episode 19, Elizabeth is determined to save a group of schoolgirls from the terrorist organization Boko Haram. An agent, Chris, working for the United States government heads to Cameroon to try to negotiate the release of the girls, but the leader of the organization refuses to relent. 

When Chris makes his way back to the United States, and to the State Department, he is overcome with the Marburg virus which causes the entire department to be evacuated. Elizabeth is shocked to learn of the evacuation and is even more surprised to learn Jay may have been exposed to the deadly virus. 

In the situation room, the staff discusses the outbreak of the deadly virus and how it will quickly grow if it's not treated soon. President Dalton sends more aid workers to help out in Cameroon, but a member of the Boko Haram infiltrates the camp and bombs them. The organization posts a video the next day taking credit for the suicide bomb and Elizabeth realizes the leader of the organization is ill with the Marburg virus. 

Thankfully, after Chris takes a turn for the worse, the doctors are able to concoct a drug which cures the Marburg virus. Jay is given a clean bill of health and Elizabeth goes to him to discuss the possibility of offering half a dosage of the cure to the leader of the organization to get the girls back. Jay begins to get angry about the cure being given to a monster, but tells her to bring it to the President. 

After Elizabeth brings her idea to President Dalton he reluctantly agrees as long as the ambassador of Cameroon is on board. The ambassador agrees and they end up sending Chris back to Cameroon to offer the cure, but to negotiate the return of the schoolgirls. The leader agrees and the girls are all released back to their families.
