Madam Secretary Season 5 Episode 8 involves a crisis in Haiti, in which the loser of a Presidential election claims voter fraud and refuses to vacate his office. Elizabeth is determined to resolve the problem peacefully, but President Dalton believes that it will not be possible to do so -- who is right?

When President Dupont is voted out, he makes a lot of noise about voter fraud and insists he's the actual winner. His replacement wants to create a more honest, legitimate government, but while he is visiting the United States, Dupont suspends the Haitian Constitution and cracks down on dissidents. Sanctions aren't working and Elizabeth is desperate for a diplomatic solution.

Meanwhile, Matt is driven crazy by Danny Victor, a Haitian speechwriter who he's required to let shadow him and who is constantly criticizing his writing.

And Blake panics when he realizes he's going to lose his job in three days. He wants to apply for a more senior position but he's nervous and scared and keeps making stupid mistakes. Will he be able to get it together in time for his interview?
