Recap

Now that Ace knows about the curse, he turns to Bess for moral support, and she tells the rest of the Drew Crew. But Nancy refuses to share the details of the curse for fear that Ace will look for a loophole and get himself killed.

Nick has a brunch date scheduled with Jade, whom he met through a dating app. But when she begins talking about his online presence. Since she works in PR, she can help him use his new trending status to help his business. Nick feels like he's being recruited as a client and leaves the date when Ace calls.

George is working as Judge Abbott's law clerk when he has some sort of attack. The veins in his neck turn black, he tells George to stay away from Magpie Lake, and then he collapses.

The paramedics don't seem to believe George when she tells them this wasn't a normal heart attack, so she calls Nancy. Nancy and Ace decide to get the water Abbott drank before he collapsed tested. Some of the water splashes onto Nancy before they get it tested.

Later, while driving, Nancy has aggressive tendencies. Black veins appear on her neck but disappear before Ace can see them.

Nancy continues to act out of character. She makes fun of Bess, who struggles with making the perfect dinner for Addie's parents. Then she cuts off George, saying she read the case file Abbott had before he died. It's from a trial that Judge Abbott presided over in 1996.

A teen, Logan Rhodes, was charged with breaking into his classmate's house. Since the classmate was a minor, their name was redacted from the file, and Abbott dismissed the charges on insufficient evidence.

They all realize that Nancy is acting strange, like a really annoying jerk of a guy. Ace realizes that this started when she got splashed with Abbott's water.

Nick and Ace try to find Magpie Lake, but the closest one is over 3,000 miles away. But Logan Rhodes lives in Eastville, so Ace and Nancy decide to talk to him.

Ace and Nancy meet with Logan Rhodes. He tells them that Magpie Lake isn't a lake but a person. Margaret Pyne Lake, nickname Magpie.

Under the influence of the water, Nancy accuses Ace of trying to control her and then leaves him to find his own ride home.

Nancy suspects Logan of hurting Maggie. But Maggie says she had too much to drink, walked home alone, tripped, and hit her head on a curb. She still gets such terrible migraines that she can only teach part-time, and her parents have to help support her.

Nancy notices that Maggie has the same horse statue that was in Abbott's office. She suspects that Logan stole a horse statue from Maggie when he broke into her house on a dare and then gave it to Logan as a thank-you gift.

A truly insufferable Nancy bullies Ace into getting Maggie's medical records because she suspects Logan hurt Maggie, and it wasn't an accident the way Maggie claims to remember. But the records validate Maggie's story.

Ace tries to avoid Nancy, but she accuses him of rejecting her, and then she snaps and attacks him with the metal horse statue. They have to handcuff Nancy to the stair rail, and Bess gives her a mild sedative to calm her down. The tea also allows her to have a removed perspective on what's she going through.

Ryan, while researching the Glasses, finds they have a supernatural stomach pump device that may help remove the effects of the tainted water from Nancy. Nancy and George ask Tristan to find it for them. He wants assurances that they'll return it so his parents won't find out it's gone. It turns out the harbor master did impound his boat after all.

Nancy gives Tristan her necklace, and they get the mystical stomach pump. Nancy uses it. It works, but she throws up black liquid. Bess realizes it appears to be the same liquid that the reanimated bodies regurgitated before they collapsed.

Ace continues to search Maggie's medical records and realizes that the photos that were sent to the hospital in Bangor don't match the ones from the local hospital. On one set, the lacerations fit the shape of the horse statue, not a curb, which means that someone may have also changed Maggie's memories.

Nick wonders if Maggie, Logan, and Abbott's memories were all altered. Nancy theorizes that drinking the tainted water may have restored Abbott's memories, a memory so upsetting that it triggered a heart attack.

Nancy realizes that when she attacked Ace, she was compelled to use the horse statue to hit him in the head. Perhaps she absorbed Logan's emotions from that night.

Nick and George confront Abbott in the hospital. He warns George that everything will fall apart if she pulls this thread.

Ace and Nancy switch out Logan's water so that he remembers attacking Maggie. He tells them they'll never be able to prove it and that Abbott is the one who doctored the hospital files.

Nancy and George tell Maggie what Logan and Abbott did to her. It may not change anything, but she's glad to know the truth about what happened to her that night.

Nancy returns the stomach pump and gets Tristan's boat returned to him. He returns her necklace. She explains that the locket was her Mom's and the compass was her birth mother's. Tristan says he was adopted too.

Nancy admits to Ace that not being able to feel what she feels for him turned her into a monster, and she doesn't want to go through that again. So, she tells him about Temperance's curse. She admits that she's terrified of losing him, but she thinks they need to at least try to break the curse. Ace says that's all he wants, then ask her to share the vision she had of them together so he knows what he has to look forward to.

Bess is nervous about planning dinner for Addie's parents. Addie says her parents are particular and frequently scare off her significant others. Bess assures her that she doesn't scare easily. When Addie's parents arrive, Bess gives them each a big hug.

George asks Nick what he's really looking for from a date with Jade. He says he wants conversation and to get to know them in a real way. Jade admits that talking about work is a crutch when she's nervous. They decide to go on a second date.

George tells Nick that she's worried that there's something in the town's water.

Nancy: You weren’t there.
Ace: Wasn’t where? I’m in this curse too. Please, stop pushing me away and tell me.
Nancy: I’m trying to be strong, okay? I can’t go there. I can’t let those feelings in right now.

Nancy: Word of our curse travels fast.
Ace: I went to Bess for moral support. Bess went to everyone else for moral support.
