In 2003, Britney Perez, an abducted sailor, makes a run from her captor. He follows, attempting to run her down. Her car is pulled from a lake 20 years later. The team has been asked to assist NCIS's cold case homicide unit on Perez's case. Sam and Callen are headed to the crime scene while Kensi and Deeks go to tell Britney's mother. Kilbride is having a tense visit with his estranged son, Alex. Britney's body is found in the trunk of her car. Sam discovers a tooth near her body. Britney's mother Carmen says Britney was upset about a situation with her roommate, Jen Anderson, the last time they talked. Daisy sends over the moldy, sooty print case files. Melissa, the wife of prime suspect Aaron Baker, insists that he lawyer up. After they argue, Alex sends away Kilbride. Kensi and Deeks get fired on when they go to interview Jen, Britney's former roommate. Baker had sexually assaulted Jen. Jen went AWOL on the day that Britney reported that crime. Kevin Phillips, Aaron's former roommate, says his father put undue pressure on him about a Navy career. Van Sant's forensic geneology search indicates that the tooth may belong to Jack Baker. Deeks in his bum disguise collects a DNA sample from trash. Jack loses his tail and picks up a rifle from a storage facility. Aaron also appears to be on the run. But Aaron is hoping to intercept Jack before he does something violent. Jack is trying for suicide by cop. He gets his wish when he turns on Sam, with the safety engaged on his gun. Jen texts Kensi that's she's going to report her assault. Carmen lights a floating candle at the lake where Britney was found. Kilbride returns and he and Alex talk.
