On NCIS New Orleans Season 1 Episode 5, the body of Chief Warrant Officer William Reed is found on the bayou.
He wasn't killed there though. And the team at first believes his death may be payback for his time spent at Gitmo, interrogating prisoners.
Then they realize he was killed at his house, then dumped elsewhere. And they find out his wife Marilyn is missing.
After playing some cat and mouse with Marilyn's brother Oliver Huntingdon, they finally find out that Marilyn has been kidnapped, and that a ransom demand has been made for three millions dollars, to be paid in twenty-four hours.
The family lawyer is involved, as is the Reeds' next door neighbour.
