Rock and a Hard Place
Recap
A bomb goes off in the dressing room at a military charity concert this week, killing a Navy Petty Officer and the head janitor of the auditorium. The NCIS team comes in to figure out the bomb's intended target.
At first, the team thought that Manheim Gold - the singer who was supposed to use the room before a concert - was the murderer's intended victim. The only reason he wasn't killed, was that he had gotten drunk and never made it to the dressing room. Earlier, he had crashed his car when his brakes failed.
Suspicious of the car accident, Abby investigated the brake lining and found it had been punctured.
The team traced the sabotage back to one of Gold's previous agents named Ronnie Mustard. He had been taking the proceeds of Gold's royalties and had attempted to kill him so that he could continue to do so. However, he wasn't the one who placed the bomb in the dressing room.
The team found out that one of the concert charity co-ordinators, Lucas Pischedda, was behind the bomb attack. The bomb was intended to go off so that the charity concert would be moved to another location - a place where millions of dollars had been stashed below ground. Lucas wanted to use the noise of the concert as a cover to mask the sound of his mean digging up the money.
Gibbs figured it out and shut the power off mid-concert. He and Bishop heard the sound of the drilling and digging and arrested Lucas and his men.
Meanwhile, Palmer's birth mother went into labor. Once she saw the baby she decided to keep it. This broke Palmer's heart, and he and Gibbs ended up having a heart to heart about it at the end of the episode.
