The victim being a Navy petty officer, the NCIS team is called out to investigate, though they quickly realize that the local sheriff is, in fact, an old acquaintance: Walt Osorio of the Sherlocks, who normally use their brainpower to investigate cold cases. Here, however, the group decides to take on a very active case indeed, with Walt deputizing them all. Joining the Sherlocks is their newest member, Anthony DiNozzo Senior, who was recommended by his son Tony. Despite the team's understandable reservations at working together with the group of amateurs, they are forced to go along with it and dive into the investigation. They learn that the victim was not only having issues with her husband, but she also had some sort of disagreement with her commanding officer.
