When you watch New Girl Season 4 Episode 19 online you'll see how far a mom will go to get her son to do as he's told. Nick and Schmidt want to invest in the bar, but they only have half of the money. Schmidt, knowing his mom Louise is coming for a visit, decides he will ask her for his bar mitzvah money. Louise agrees to give Schmidt his money, but he first needs to write thank you notes to everyone before she will give him the money. Schmidt and Nick enlist Winston and Aly to help them track down everyone who came to his bar mitzvah and when Schmidt puts together the various thank you notes he hands them to his mother who isn't pleased with them. Louise feels like Schmidt could have been more personable and she makes him go back and re-write them. Nick talks with Schmidt and convinces him to stand up to his mother and get her to stop controlling everything he does. Schmidt confronts Louise and lets her know that he is no longer a child and will not let her control him anymore. Louise goes to get her nails done and unknowingly gets advice from Cece who tells Louise she needs to let Schmidt be a man and make his own decisions. Louise finally lets Schmidt have his money and even though she isn't thrilled about him investing in the bar, she lets him make that choice.
Jess has been seeing a man named Pete who Coach set her up with. She sent Pete a sext message of her in a shirt with her bra on the outside of the shirt thinking it was sexy. When Jess hasn't heard from Pete for a while she goes and looks for him and finds out he died. Jess guilts Coach and Cece into going to the funeral so she can erase the sext message she sent him. At the memorial they encounter Pete's friends who share memories of Pete and Jess and her friends are put in an uncomfortable situation when they find out Jess isn't the only one who sent Pete an incriminating text. Jess tries to call Pete's phone but it's too late and when she calls it all his friends she the sexting photo Jess sent to Pete.
