Feeling guilty about being used by the Dark One, Belle and Hook work together to figure out how to release the fairies from the Sorcerer's hat. Belle believes an Oxford professor she contacted online has helped her translate a spell that can help. It turns out that the professor is really Mr. Gold working from New York City.

The spell works but it also releases a hell beast from the hat. Regina is contacted by Ursula who says she knows how to stop the hell beast but she and Cruella de Vil want to enter Storybrooke as they've heard it's a place where villains can find redemption. Since the beast goes after the heat with the darkest potential, Regina lures it to the town line with Emma's help. Once she gets it to cross over, the beast turns to dust because it's entered a world where magic doesn't exist. Regina and Emma make good on their promise and allow the women into Storybrooke. They later use the magic scroll they were given to enter to Mr. Gold so he can enter as well.
