Emma works up the courage to ask Hook out on a date. He accepts but offers to plan it. Then he goes to Mr. Gold and tells him he wants his hand back or he will tell Belle that Gold swapped daggers. Gold warns Hook that the hand may have retained parts of his old self, the cunning, selfish pirate. Hook wants the hand anyway.

At dinner, Will Scarlett knocks a drink on Emma and Hook loses his temper. Later, Hook finds Will breaking into the library and beats him up. He goes back to Mr. Gold and asks him to take the hand back. Gold will only do it for a price. He makes Hook help him find and old man (the Apprentice) and transports him into the Sorcerer's hat.

When Mr. Gold finally gives Hook his hook back he tells him two things. That the hand held no power. That he'd tricked him into getting back in touch with his darker self. Secondly, he has a recording of Hook helping him capture the old man and he will show it to Emma if he doesn't continue to help him or tries to tell Belle the truth.
