Recap

Sorry, Digby, you weren't the only canine in this episode. But you still played an important role. Let's get to it...

We begin with Olive coming clean to Chuck about her kissing of Ned at the end of the previous hour. She says it was just a friendly, innocent kiss and Chuck is rather understanding about the event. She's handling it a lot better than Ned, who is having scary dreams that involve Olive wearing a naked Chuck suit and kissing him again. Let's just move on from that.

The fact of this week's murder are these: Harold Hundin, the president of a local kennel is found dead. The cause? A poisoned cup of coffee. When Ned, Chuck and Emerson wake Harold up to ask the culprit, he tells them it was his wife. Easy case, right? Wrong. Harold was a polygamist. He had four wives.

Turns out the one who trained puppies to be seeing eye dogs for the blind, Halle, was framed for the murder. As she sits in jail, the crime fighters attempt to find the real murderer. How come? Because Halle's blind friends are offering a $25,000 award.

A few clues lead Chuck, Ned and Emerson toward Snuppy, a competitor in the dog breeding business who has bought Harold's prize possession immediately before his death: Bubble Gum, an oddly bred dog (pictured above, left). Even though Bubble Gum is now dead (Simone, another one of Harold's wives, ran him over with her car by accident), Snuppy wants to clone his remains, impregnate his dogs and make a killing. Pun... intended!

But is he really the killer? Emerson has other ideas. He follows a dream and heads back over to Simon's dog training school. He thinks Bubble Gum is still alive and, as he interrogates Simone about it, she drugs him and ties him up. So much for this possible love connection. After being tied up for two days, thoug, Emerson's adrenaline kicks in and he breaks free.

Hope you're following along. This is more of a back and forth plot than usual even...

So now the trio thinks Simone wanted to kill Snuppy. After all, she had fooled him into thinking Bubble Gum was dead. And the group is partially correct: Snuffy has been poisoned, but Emerson doesn't think Simone is guilty. Instead, he hatches a plan: let's wake Snuffy up at the funeral for Harold and see which wife freaks out.

And that's exactly what they do.

Upon execution of this plan, Hillary makes a run for it. She's the guilty party! Turns out she killed both Harold and Snuppy because she couldn't handle the idea of her pseudo child, Bubble Gum, being cloned. She had wanted the dog all to herself.

At the end of the hour, Olive is very nice to Ned in wishing him happiness with Chuck; but also in wishing it doesn't take forever for those two to find it. Ned himself is pretty sure of his feelings, however, turning off the lights before bedtime and telling Chuck she's all he needs to be happy.
