Nova meets with her Aunt Martha, who is a healer. Nova always thought that she was the “accident” that made her mother choose to live the life she thought she should instead of the life she wanted. Martha assures her that she and Ralph Angel were the sources of their mother’s greatest job. Although Nova believed that her mother had been cremated and her ashes scattered, Martha says that Trudy was buried on the family farm. 

Charley’s on a bender. When she doesn’t come home, Micah tracks her via her cell phone and calls Nova. Nova finds Charley at a bar in New Orleans. She brings Charley home, puts her to bed and says how sorry she is for writing the book. She thought it would be good for everyone but now she knows it was only good for her. 

Violet tells Hollywood how disturbing it was to see him beating on Jimmy Dale. She decides that she needs to do some work on herself because she just can’t shake the trauma she endured with Jimmy Dale. After a guys’ poker night with his buddies, who cheer him on for beating Jimmy Dale, Hollywood wonders why there are so many self-help groups for women but none for men. 

Micah talks to Ralph Angel about being with Keke. He’s worried about what their future holds. Ralph Angel tells him to come at it from a place of love and believe that things will work out. 

Dara’s boyfriend reads Nova book. He puts a hold on their relationship because he fears Darla is on the verge of a relapse and she isn’t doing anything about it. Carla is shook up when she realizes that Blue’s new best friend is Deesha’s daughter. 

After calling Blue to say goodnight, Darla sits crying, staring at a bottle of booze. She opens it, smells it, but puts it back down and continues to sob. 

Prosper has an idea about how to lift the community back up. He brings everyone to the mill, which he, Genevieve and Violet have decorated, gotten an African band, and supplied food for a party. Whatever happens next, they will do it together.
