Rizolli & Isles Season 7 Episode 2 revolves around two separate cases. Jane is more determined than ever to get Alice, while Maura and Frankie investigate a car accident. Meanwhile, Frankie and Nina get closer -- but is it love?

Frankie's first case in his new position involves the death of a college freshman, Layla, in a car accident. Layla's car went over a cliff and she died of a traumatic brain injury as a result. Layla's parents are convinced that their bright daughter could not have died by accident and beg Frankie to check out her ex-boyfriend, who they are sure tampered with her car.

While Frankie is occupied with this, Jane gets a lead on Alice's whereabouts. Initially, it leads nowhere, but with some help from Nina she finds Alice hiding in a deli. Alice is arrested, but there is no physical evidence she committed any crime and it comes down to Jane's word against hers. The judge dismisses her case and Alice and her lawyer start claiming that Jane is a dirty cop who harasses innocent people.

Frankie doesn't have any better luck, as he cannot find proof that Layla's boyfriend tampered with her car. Layla's notebook contains formulae that suggest that her death wasn't an accident -- it was a suicide. Frankie blames her parents for putting too much pressure on her, but Jane disagrees.

Meanwhile, Jane finally gets the goods on Alice, leading to an intense confrontation.
