Max defends against Jonathan, but the evil Shadowhunter knocks him out.

Maia and Simon go on their date during the full moon. They're about to kiss until they hear a scream coming from the distance. They find a man named Matt who was just attacked by a werewolf.

The Seelie Queen gives Magnus and Luke an ultimatum to turn against the Shadowhunters. Magnus has until a flower turns black to make a decision.

Isabelle finds Max unconscious in her room. She's tried her runes to save him, but he's not waking up.

Magnus relives a flashback of his first meeting with Alec.

Russell, a former member of Luke's pack, was the wolf who attacked Matt. They decide to wait and see if he will become a werewolf.

Clary and Jace find Jonathan's box under a bed. The group deduces that Jonathan attacked Max and that he must be hiding in the Institute. The building is placed on lockdown.

Maia handcuffs Matt to a pipe. He starts changing into a wolf.

Max is having a hard time waking up. The Lightwoods plan to perform a special procedure that will be his only way of rebooting the brain. Though, it has the chance to kill him.

Magnus relives a flashback of his first time with Alec. In the present time, Alec needs Magnus's help to save his brother. The magic is unable to help; only Brother Enoch will be able to reach into this mind.

Luke confronts Russell about forcing the change on people. The two fight to the death, but he space Russell's life. Russell's pack pledges their allegiance to follow Luke.

Maia tells Simon about how she turned into a werewolf. It was her ex-boyfriend Jordan who attacked her.

Jonathan goes down into the Institute's crypt to search for the Mortal Mirror. He easily kills all the guards and steals the Mirror, but as he plans to go, Clary gives him a device to test if he's Jonathan. He passes, but she's suspicious of him. She finds the device has harmed him.

Clary and Jonathan fight; she stabs him. Clary escapes in time with the Mortal Mirror, but the Mirror disintegrates when she adds a rune to it.

Maia and Simon kiss. Matt has survived the change.

Max wakes up from his coma.

Magnus takes a break from Alec for the betterment of both of their lives.

Luke's cop partner has hidden a camera in the restaurant. She captures footage of him admitting that he is a werewolf.

Clary deduces that the Mortal Mirror is actually Lake Lin.
