Alex and Samantha learned that they were working against each other with the winner becoming the named partner. 

With that, the battle ensued, and Samantha recalled the time she found herself working with Robert to try and find out who was laundering money through the firm. 

She realized that Robert took $100k as a bribe from someone in the firm, and said she was going public about it. 

Robert said he donated it to charity because the others wanted it to look like he had something to do with it. Samantha gave him the benefit of the doubt. 

When she got one up on Gavin, he used her past against her, and Alex seemed against it. 

Alex won, but Louis was drafted in as managing partner and decided to give them both the role because Donna was tired of all the animosity at the firm. 

Louis learned that he was going to be a father, but was unimpressed to learn that Sheila wanted to go forward with a brand new job that would take her away from their child. 

They ultimately decided to weather the storm.
