Castiel continues to adjust to human life as an employed convenience store worker named Steve. He reads about some mysterious deaths and calls Dean.

Dean and Castiel learn that an angel named Ephraim is trying to “help” those in pain, and he obliterates them in a pink explosion.

After Castiel mistakes an invite to babysit for a date with Nora, Ephraim tries to rid Castiel of his pain. Dean arrives in time to help kill the angel.

Dean leaves Castiel at the store telling him the angels aren’t his problem.

With parts of the tablet indecipherable for Kevin, he and Sam convince Crowley for help. He agrees with a demand to call Abaddon, who reveals she is collecting souls and taking over leadership.

Crowley reveals that the spell that cast the angels from Heaven is irreversible.

Sam sees Crowley injecting himself with Kevin’s blood.
