Recap

A girl named Harper failed to sell a house when the house tosses her off the stairs while showing it. Her sales skills are a little bizarre with talk about dead relatives that you can still hear.

Harper's brother hires Roman Real Estate to get it off the market.

Susan is on the William Larson sale. He's a horror novel writer that buys a new house every time he writes a new novel.

Susan is already back to annoying her coworkers.

Luke visits Megan and sees someone in the house. He wants August to check on the portal gate in the basement, but she wonders why he can't just do it now, himself. She reveals that Brock moved out, and they're done.

Luke is a little too happy about it.

Luke senses something with the house as soon as he arrives at the cottage. She speaks poorly of Callum as he did of her.

Luke struggles over her name because it's not Wynonna.

Luke thinks that the price on the house is too low. He wonders if there is something secretly wrong with the place. He doesn't want to be here after the dark.

Harper seems to be putting on a performance, but it doesn't work on Luke. It's how eager she is to tell him that really plays it off. She's even got a wind machine that creates her hell winds. He respects her efforts.

William Larson is not at all impressed with the houses that Susan shows him. He's obviously looking for a haunted house. Duh.

She's still not getting it, and it's a little annoying.

Zooey gives Susan the file, and somehow she's surprised. She thinks it would have been super helpful, but she told Zooey that she had it covered.

Father Phil wonders if Luke is taking an unusual interest in Megan's property. August says he's clearly hot for the homeowner. That's only part of it.

Harper has been at the cottage since her dad passed. She knows she's in the right place, even if it meant she turned down an almost dream job.

She hasn't had anyone to talk to in a long time. Luke is spending the night. It's a very safe neighborhood, she says.

There are people wandering the property that don't appear to be Harper. It's an old woman named Samantha. She's frightened of Luke and skeddadles.

Luke asks Harper if she's seen any of her dead relatives around lately. She thinks he's nuts.

Harper walks extraordinarly slow.

When she goes to the shed to get a shovel so he can pop a sign in the yard, he plays the music box that looks like the cottage.

August thinks that the portal is closed. It's only when Megan tells August and Phil what Luke told her about his mother that they learn about his interest in the house.

While he's getting signs, Luke hears people calling him to the lake. Harper beans him in the head with the shovel.

Susan still doesn't have any houses that work for William. The next house is actually oozing, and he still turns away.

Not sure why she doesn't show him Megan's house. Strange.

Luke is gagged and vocalizing, banging his head against the wall while Harper eats. He's got his hands tied in front of his face, but he didn't take the gag out.

Harper speaks as a demonish person. Luke says second thoughts are perfectly natural. He thinks someone is using Harper as a bluetooth speaker. She's not the cottage, he says.

He thinks the ashes of her dead relatives are tying her to the property.

Harper cuts him out of his binds, but she's still spouting demon. Outside, her family exits the lake.

Instead of running to his car, he runs into the woods. The old woman is there again. She seems benevolent. He asks her for help, saying that she loves Harper. She sings "let her out move them on" and some other things that Luke records.

One of the water fellows is looking for Luke. He wakes in the morning right where he was last night. People seem to fall asleep so easily.

Luke sends Phil the sound file asking for help.

Luke leaves Harper a message that her dead loved ones are keeping her here, and by using compliments, he gives her some of her agency back.

They take off in the car. She says she can't leave, but he doesn't believe her. When they wind up at the house again, he gets the message.

Grandma Samantha was from Nebraska, so speaking in tongues makes no sense. Luke takes Phil's advice to play it backward.

Susan shows William a Brady Bunch house, and he decides to take a quick look around. She texts Zoey that the Emergency House is a joke, but when William comes running out the door, he's thrilled. Make the deal, whatever it costs.

He'd like a xanax if she has one. And, she does.

Susan pats herself on her back when she gets to the office. Her coworkers are splunking the Donovan place.

Susan apologizes to Zooey again with an "I just thought you were the office manager."

The whole family is still at Harper's table. They don't like Luke's interference. Luke tells her to wind the music box backwards, and Granny Sam shows up. She apologizes to Harper.

She needed the melody to turn back to free everyone. Her final act of despair kept them at the cottage. But now, they can move on. After all these years, someone could hear her song.

This time, when they leave the house, Harper makes it off of the property.

The emergency house was Luke's childhood home. He had a lot of unusual friends as a kid.

Susan offers Luke an ear if he ever wants to talk about family, friends, and all of that. And she urges him to make a move on Megan despite his Ted Talk on neat little piles.

Luke takes a bottle of whiskey to Megan. It's not a professional visit, it's the other kind. She sends him to the library while she gets some ice.

Luke's mother is waiting for him. She's kind of a bitch. Her only fantasy was that she'd never see him again. She was so happy to be pregnant, but she wanted a little girl. When it was all over, she got Luke instead. Damn. That's harsh.

It was the first in a series of crushing disappointments, culminating in the last just 73 seconds ago. She says he can't even face his own demons when he spends all of his time helping other people to face theirs.

When Megan arrives with drinks, they can't possibly be strong enough.

Harper: Sweet God. No! It's happening again!
Luke: Right. The wind from hell. Or, maybe, the Dyson cool tower up there. You've got a remote in your pocket. Either that, or you touched your butt for another reason that is absolutely not my business.

Shiplap ceiling is original. Kitchen is not fancy but functional. You might want to lose a few of these knives unless you're planning on selling it to the Borgias.
