When you watch Sweetbitter online, you'll find out that Becky had that meltdown in the last episode because Howard transferred her to another restaurant in order to hide their relationship. Jake fights with Fred Benson (Serena's husband from Sweetbitter Season 1 Episode 2), and later tells Tess it's because Benson and Simone were having an affair (Serena is Simone's ex-best friend). When Simone finds out Jake told Tess and argues with him, Tess spies on them and witnesses Simone's control over Jake. Tess falls down the stairs and fails her written test but Howard still makes her a back waiter off of the Will's praise and insistence. Simone tries to keep Tess from being hired to no avail but she successfully convinces Howard not to fire Jake. The episode ends after Simone eerily tells Tess to "be careful" now that she's working at the restaurant.
